hereforstemslol 223
I'm asking because I'm getting into Turn Off The Light which I can only describe as an electronic. production. masterpiece. Ironically I'm into the interludes / instrumental tracks more than the traditional tracks and it's probably where Dr L*ke's work comes into the spotlight. I'll link some. I feel like it's unmoral to stream / support anything that has to do with the producer, but at the same time it's unfair on the other contributor's side. While I'm not sure about the album's background, the decision to include him in the album was probably a label decision that Kim was not a part of, so naturally she had to defend the decision and be on their side instead of dragging her label. Also worth noting that he shows up under different names in song crediting and the majority won't know about it while listening to his work and dragging him. I never knew he produced Say So by Doja. Versace 7,979
I don’t get why this dilemma is always associated with Kim when everyone likes to turn a blind eye to Doja whom still works with Luke. There are many modern hits that are under his name, I don’t know why people assume he was actually cancelled. As someone who adores Kesha and does not condone the behavior or misconduct of Luke, the reality of the matter is that almost everything we consume will have input from people who are far from ideal. Heck even Kesha’s newer albums are still under Luke and he still makes a profit when you buy Rainbow or High Road or stream any of her older work as well. But if you boycott streaming Kesha then she makes no buck as well. Label contracts are very murky and unfortunately we don’t know how much control people like Kim or Doja really have. Heck not even someone as big as Taylor could dodge shady label business. I guess if you care about the artist then continue supporting that body of work but if you’re not invested in Kim, Doja or those working with Luke then perhaps avoiding their work could make you feel better from moral standpoint but that’s not to say you should feel guilty otherwise. Benji 20,113
It’s a moral dilemma because I don’t want to support him but I do want to support the artists he’s tied to. I wish they would move away from working with him but they can’t get momentum in their careers if no one streams his music. Tricky.
VasilisVas 5,189
Y’all tear him down but praise Doja like she’s the second coming of something…meanwhile they work together
HuffsAhoy 7,433
I personally don't care about the ethics of an artist or producer. I'm not gonna stop listening to Kesha's early work, for example, because of what Dr. Luke has done in the past. Good music is good music. You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love. nATAH 49,833
you COULD download the album via... alternate methods but i'm not going to promote anything illegal i don't really stream and i import all my CDs onto my phone the man is so big in music that it's hard to avoid him tbh... the masses aren't going to just stop listening to doja cat overnight to make this man bankrupt so u might as well just listen to whatever u want mother, what must i do? See the difference here is Doja signed before Kesha came forward with the allegations. Doja however has confirmed to not be working with Dr Luke at all in an recent interview, he's just here because of the contract. Kim on the other hand defended him & voluntarily works with him. She's not in a contract with him, recently she pretended to get signed to Republic records. Eventually she got signed to Amigo records which is just another smoke label of Dr Luke. The bottom line is, Doja isn't in much of a position to change her work relationship with him, Kim had the opportunity multiple times but voluntarily chooses to work with him, knowing about all the allegations. Anderson123 38,475
Do as you wish, life is too short to be worried about that and your streaming numbers are not gonna make a huge difference. He's already earning lots of money from Doja, Kim and maybe royalties from his work with Katy, Kesha, Avril, Kelly Clarkson, P!nk, Miley, Britney, Rihanna, Maroon 5 and the many many artists he worked with and rights he has to beats and stuff like that. But if you really want to do it to feel right, just download it online, it's still so easy to do.

I respect your view point but in the end streaming either artist equates to Luke profiting, no matter the circumstances of their contractual obligations and how they may differ. I don’t think that’s the case for why people turn a blind eye to Doja though. People just like to highlight Kim’s situation cause that’s all they know about her outside her fans “the girl that works with Luke”, unlike Doja whose had a mainstream breakthrough. Also I wouldn’t necessarily say that Kim is voluntarily working with Luke. You never know what NDA these girls have signed and what clauses their contracts actually contain. They’ll have you believing that they’re in charge of their careers when it may very well not be the case. Kesha was literally an example, the girl made it seem like she was on top of the world till she came forth with her story. I just don’t like to jump to conclusions especially when it comes to the music industry contracts.
