You don’t get to piss someone off and decide how they should respond. Rupaul never said anything rude to or about her so idk why you're hung up on this. But ok, let’s say Rupaul in fact isn’t the bigger person. What does that change? He still didn’t say anything inflammatory about Pearl or “talk ****.” Again, even if he did, is that really problematic? Another reach. Punching down? What affect did Blame it on the edit have on anyone? Who did he punch? Did he call out any specific queen? Don’t read too deep into a throwaway silly song 💀 even if he wrote that song specifically about Pearl and mentioned her by name…how would that make him problematic? First off, I never personally said Ru was problematic. I said I didn't think what she did was acceptable. Clearly we don't agree on that, so that's fine. En_Sabah_Nur 9,359
I don’t often post much on here anymore, but I just had to say something about this specific topic though. I am most honestly (pleasantly) surprised by this thread & most of the comments within it! 🙏 It seems like the decade long "RuPaul HATE-Train" (among RPDR "fans") is FINALLY coming to an end…. THANK GOD.!!!!!!!! People are FINALLY growing up & seeing him in a more nuanced human way, instead of the MONSTER that the fan base has portrayed him as over the years now….SMH! Egypt. Acting like "what do they expect" and "nothing to see here" is dismissing so many peoples experience. I'm not trying to "cancel RuPaul", I'm just trying to have a conversation, Jesus Soo…people are giving you their opinion and you aren’t accepting it as part of the conversation? Like it’s been said, every “reality show” is problematic. Everyone in every show encouraged to act a certain way while the cameras are on. “Extra” personalities are pushed heavily in reality tv, to make the show more entertaining. That’s how the industry works. As for Rupaul: his contributions to the gay community outweigh any sort of “problematic” traits he may or may not have. He gives the queens a huge platform, and most of which are extremely grateful. A few have come forward with a different view, but Rupaul is a person, not a saint. It happens to everyone who is overly successful- eventually people start to try to tear them down. That’s human nature.
CooterFritter 777
She ripped off Azealia Banks Big Big Beat with Call Me Mother while completely ignoring her existence. Openly refused to have trans women on the show for the first like how many seasons? Trans people of color created the ball scene and ru doesn’t call that out enough imo. continues to do business with Todrick…some of the skits border on minstrel acts… not to mention the homogenization of drag in general with classist requirements.
