Same, haven't even seen the movie. What's all the hype about? Is it that good, should I give it a try? :wtfga:

Honestly, no. Watch the film and skip the soundtrack. That’s the only way to truly appreciate the music because it’s so reliant on what is going onscreen.

I’m in the “I don’t understand why this is number 1” group myself, but Lin-Manuel and I have not really been quick to connect since Moana either. I have a hard time with the majority of his projects until I watch them and absorb all of it at once, but I also still wish he would drop the low-grade rap style he is preferential to. It’s not the best lyrically or sonically, and I don’t think it’s gonna hold up the test of time either.

As a whole project, Encanto is an absolutely beautiful story, deeply relatable characters, and amazing visuals. I think with a little more work on the music it would be one of my favorite Disney projects.

StressedOut

I really liked the movie and soundtrack, I'm not streaming it at all really, but I do love we don't talk about bruno. There is something to be said about how well it's doing outside the context of the movie.

The polyphonic ending of the song is so beautifully overwhelming when they meld all the melodies together

I find Miranda's songs far too realiant on watching the musical, most don't have a general appeal, where you don't need to see the film or musical to enjoy it. So I find it weird that this song of all the songs from the film has blown up, it's not a general song that anyone can relate to like Let It Go. Love the film though.

I really like how the music is being used in the movie. I usually have a hard time watching musicals and Disney movies because I find the songs annoying, they interrupt the flow of the movie and don't do anything but showing the characters' thoughts and emotions, which is interesting but I don't want to sit through a song for 3 minutes for that. But here, it's really well done and is useful to the storyline, it doesn't get boring because you're actually learning things and the music is good too.

I'm surprised that the song is this popular though, I don't see a lot of listening value outside of the movie. The music is good the way it's used in the movie, it seems weird to listen to it in other circumstances, the way you would do it with more conventional songs.

I see it somewhere in YouTube I guess why this song works. The most exciting thing that "Ensemble" song usually don't get the love. So this is quite new.

But Lin-Manuel said technically Bruno is based on Theater. So THAT final minute hits in Bruno, it's how in musical theater where it clashes and smashing all the voices together.

Watch it!! It’s a really great movie and story. It has depth and so much attention to detail. The visuals are really spectacular and the music really drives the story, along with being catchy. It has some flaws (what movie doesn’t?) but it is completely worth watching.

It always blows my mind when songs like these gain enough traction to hit #1 but how many amazing full concept mastermind pop tracks go unnoticed :ladyhaha:

i.e. Charlie puth’s Light Switch missing the top 40 this week on debut :dom:
