Joe Rogan apologizes over Spotify podcast controversy

What I think a lot of people aren't acknowledging is that this is his brand. Controversy and "going against the grain" is his brand.

When "The Game Changers" (documentary about plant-based athletes) came out, Rogan was pissed and I remember seeing him tweet or making ignorant comments about the film and following. He had several critics on his show trying to debunk the science in the film, even though it's backed by years and years of research.

He also did some CRAZY meat only (literally) diet where he touted so many benefits and then later reported diarrhea among other negatives :bear:

Anyway, my whole point is he knows what he's doing and it's very dangerous to give him this type of platform. He's not trying to have a conversation, he's trying to play with fire and pander to the Trumpers, anti-vaxx, etc because IT SELLS. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

{But echoing some of the comments made here...if you listened to Fauci and other scientists from the beginning, nothing that has happened in the pandemic has been a surprise. They said to wear a mask and avoid gatherings/social distance. When people didn't do that, they got sick. They said to get vaccinated (X2) AND keep wearing your mask. When people didn't do that, they got sick. They said to get boosted and even the vaccinated can get COVID but it will probably be less severe. When people didn't get boosted, they got sick.

All of this to say that I genuinely don't understand this movement of Anti-vax and "taking rights away". If you don't want to get sick and/or spread the virus to others, you get vaccinated and wear a mask. WHERES THE CONFUSION :interestinga:

I feel like everyone is missing the point - it's not about censorship, it's about the fact that Spotify paid Joe Rogan $100 MILLION DOLLARS for his disinformation podcast, while paying artists CENTS per stream. Music is supposed to be the backbone of their platform, and yet they're solely focused on paying a conspiracy grifter like Joe.

Not to mention Spotify was funded by the Kushners' (of Trump fame :huntyga:) company Thrive Capital. So... put that together with their odd obsession with paying Joe top dollar and it starts to seem very suspicious :partysick:

Here's the difference: If Joe's podcast was free published to a podcast platform, like Apple Podcasts, then I would just ignore it/not listen to it. But when he is prioritized above all other artists and paid an insane wage like that when music artists see next to nothing in payout... that's where my support for Spotify ends :iamfair:

Bold on its own never works, but if you combine it with italics it does the job :vegas:

No confusion.  The problem is the spreading the virus to others.  That and taking up all the hospital beds that could be used for other seriously ill people.

they are not in the music business. they are a tech platform which provide audio/media. they want people to spend more time on the platform so they invested millions in podcasts and became the largest podcast provider in the U.S.. This is a business.

And you're pissed because? He's spreading dangerous misinformation like the idiot he is, and Spotify is supporting it. I don't know which episodes need to be removed because I don't listen to his stupid podcast and won't listen now and give him more plays. Not sure what you're trying to say here cause you're making 0 sense lmao

Having a different opinion is not the same as spreading missinformation
