If people don't want to get vaccinated, that is fine but I feel they should do us the courtesy of dying in their homes and not taking up beds in hospitals.

For a site that considers itself pretty liberal, it really amazes me how easy people are willing to ditch the principle of principle of bodily integrity.

You know what's gross? Wanna force people to inject something in their bodies they don't want.

You know what's ACTUALLY gross? Having no problem participating in the prolonging of a pandemic that's killed millions upon millions because you don't feel like taking a safe and effective injection. Enough brainlessness, it's 2022. Liberalism is truly a disease.

In my country, the far majority of people is vaccinated and we still had lockdowns until a few weeks ago. Are you sure vaccins are the golden answer to stop the pandemic?

I don't think so. 'Cause, in reality, vaccinated people can still spread the virus.

Personally, I believe that vaccins even tend to create a false sense of safety.

I'm vaxxed and absolutely think people should get their shots to protect their health, but there is something fundamental about governments not being able to force their citizens to do something with their bodies they don't want for whatever reason.

Because, if they can do that, what's next?

If people keep smoking and get lung cancer as a result, should we refuse to give them care as well?

Your habits are not my issue. Deal with your lung cancer on your own.

Just like how people’s choices regarding vaccines isn’t your issue. :river:

Precisely, go die elsewhere. Don't burden me with it.

I mean... You can live perfectly healthy and still have cancer, avoiding cancer is largely not up to what you do or not. You can, however, avoid catching (to some extent) a virus and spreading it to others. The two issues are not comparable.

So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

Is it really burdening you though? Are you a front line worker? Because otherwise, you don’t need to worry. I’m presuming you took the V to protect yourself? All done then!

Yes, it is burdening me. I shouldn't have to deal with people dying of their own negligence.

Yes, I took the vaccine to protect myself, however I also did it because the majority of the age group I interact with is at high risk of contracting and dying from the virus.

Respectfully - lately I’ve been feeling like the prolonging of the pandemic is coming down to the governments. Such a large number of people are vaccinated now, and seeing as it’s so safe and effective it should be OK to get back to things? There is always going to be a group of people who don’t take the V - you’ll still spread it regardless of vaccination so at this point, I feel like you take the V if you want that extra protection.
Of course there is the argument of the hospital system being overwhelmed… but I wonder if work is being done to expand on hospital resources around the world, seeing as pandemics are said to become a routine part of our future.

Well, that is tough then. I would recommend letting go of that burden as much as you can… quite often people die of their own negligence. You did say before to “go die elsewhere” and “not burden you with it”… unless you’re seeing them die in front of you, it should be alright!
My point is - you say you “shouldn’t have to deal with it”, no one is forcing you to deal with people dying of their own negligence. That’s on them.

There is something the lot of you still don’t understand: It’s not about us as INDIVIDUALS, but as a WHOLE.

Just because I’m vaxxed doesn’t mean I can’t catch the virus and it doesn’t mean I can’t spread it. That’s why the mask mandate and the vax mandate are there, to get everyone over the finish line so we can be done with this mess.

I got vaxxed not only to protect myself, but others around me. If I catch corona, I can pass it to someone vaxxed, and they’ll be fine, what if they pass it to an unvaxxed immune-compromised family member? That’s not good.

That’s why we’re trying to stop situations like that from happening. Because normal people don’t want others to die over something that is completely preventable.
