I love it. It brings me nice sad memories.

But I much prefer the demos of all the songs, they fit more perfectly with the visuals and feelings. The album sounds way to polished. The demos have that gritty sound feeling of listening to classical songs

Yeah, it brings me sad memories too. I used to listen to this album whenever I felt depressed, just to feel... more depressed. :yennefer: Nowadays I do the same but with NFR, so whenever I remember these albums they're usually associated with hard times in my life :partysick: But well, they are great albums and there's something pseudotherapeutical in them!

I have so many memories with this album, first ones being hating on Lana and saying her music is only good for funerals :ladyhaha: I remember that I was at hospital when MIllion Dollar Man came on shuffle and damn, it made me want to give the whole album a chance and I loved it, she made me enjoy chill, calm sounds as much as I love faster music.

My first convert in life was Lana's, it was during the Paradise tour, but of course Paradise is pretty short so more than half of the setlist was BTD. Hearing Carmen live was something spiritual, I still remember those yellow lights circling everywhere, it felt like the world was ending!

My favorites are, of course, Carmen because of that moment, also OF COURSE Million Dollar Man, because the love began with this, Diet Mountain Dew (I love the violins in the background during verses!), Lolita (it felt so different from the rest, fitted perfectly) and the demo version of Lucky Ones, which is sooooo lighthearted and makes me happy!

I miss this old Lana as I don't enjoy last two albums + NFR took me waaaay to long to get into (but now I love it). This was really a revolutionary album, not only further shaping my music taste, but having a huge inpact on the music till this day!

I've been getting messages from my deep waters

Her best album (that includes the Paradise re-release) and one of my favourite albums of all time. I know the accepted wisdom now is to say that NFR is her best but I still maintain that her OG style was the best. I didn't immediately connect with Video Games but as soon as I heard Born To Die, I was instantly intrigued. I listened to her entire album and took a while to truly appreciate it and once I did, I was HOOKED. The majestic instrumentals, the classy music videos, the whole atmosphere, I felt just as excited listening to her for the first time as I felt listening to Gaga. Ultimate favourites would have to be Born To Die, National Anthem, Million Dollar Man, Summertime Sadness and This Is What Makes Us Girls. Speaking of which, when I heard the demos for TIWMUG, I couldn't believe any of them didn't make the official cut. It sounds so much better as a more upbeat song and the final outro of "this is what makes us girls now baby, that's why we rule the world now baby oh, baby oh, baby oh" is just euphoric. I know it probably got slowed down to fit with the overall aesthetic of the album but it would have really rocked us out if she'd gone for the original.
