Zara Larsson doesn't get the point of NFT

To me it’s like when people “buy” a star. Stars are technically tangible but realistically anyone else can say they “own” your star.

I don’t really see the purpose of this and ppl can do whatever but it’s so cringe to me.

I don't see the purpose when NFTs don't even include copyright of the actual item. So what do you actually own, bragging rights?

Tbh I don't have a compelte grasp of  it. (Who does?!) Just also not supporting this because of the prevalence of art theft on the internet at the moment.

NFT to me are just digital pyramid schemes and more often than not people steal work from other artist to sell as NFTs.
Edit: a friend told me a while ago that NFT is just bootleggedpokemon cards for rich people :ladyhaha:

But is it a bad think tho? Genuinely asking. I haven’t touched physical money for years. I just use cards. Is it bad? Since we live under constant danger of getting robbed, I’d rather go outside with just my card which’s a safer than walking around with money in your pocket

so that the governments can see everything we pay for? Nah... I'd rather keep physical money. (Doesn't mean I never use my card but a lot of times I use physical money)

I didn't get nfts before, but I did some research  and I just read a bit about it and I finally get it. (Even though I think the idea is kinda stupid)

edit: So apparently tokens have a certain wealth or function. It can be something like real estate or rights to music or a painting and have its own value. People can be the rightful owner of a token. (Like if u own a house)

A token can be "fungible" or "non-fungible". Non-fungible means you cannot trade this token 1-to-1 with another, because your token has a fixed "value". You cannot trade a house which is worth 1 million against one that is worth 10 million. (Which is why we invented money for trade LOL )

That's the difference to bitcoins - it's like money. Every bitcoin has the same "value" and therefor can be traded. A 10 dollar note has the same value like another 10 dollar note.

There literally is no point to it. It's a scam built on top of another scam.

As such, not understanding it means that you have sense.

I mean, seriously I can explain in it in as much detail as you like, but the bottom line really is that it's a scam. The theory behind it is based on the conventional, physical art market, where the "original" of a painting or sculpture is typically the thing that's bought and sold for potentially big money, even though reproductions may exist (and the right to reproduce a work is governed by copyright, which is NOT LINKED to the physical original). In the case of a digital artwork, there really is no "original" -- every digital copy is 100% identical. But NFTs are an attempt to recreate the concept of "originals" for the digital world... sort of.

P.S. I believe the quoted responses from "Carly" are profoundly misguided.

y'all dragging NFTs but if NFTs were developed in the ARTPOP era, gaga would be pioneering its niche pop culture market. tech x art x pop

too bad nfts are scorched earth these days. just free engagement for haters circle jerking; scammers shilling their ugly nfts; and everyone with damn money minting the shittiest nfts possible... even invoking freaking DEAD people.

in another time, NFTs would be revolutionizing art as something profitable for small artists. will take a huge amount of rebranding + ethereum finally moving to Proof of Stake but I'm hopeful you all aren't closing your doors to ethical and actually beautiful nfts made be REAL people in the future.

NFTs can include copyright. depends on the terms when one purchases a token. it doesn't have to include copyright but there are NFTs that include it. of course that's still meaningless if you're buying stolen art.

This is the first time I actually understood what a NFT is :selena: I can’t wait to start a conversation about it with my coworkers just to look smart next to them

Yeah! I still don’t know what’s so evil about NFTs. “Physical” art has value. Many people have millions or even billions as art like famous paintings or sculptures and it has never been an issue to anyone so why is it an issue now with digital art?

During ARTPOP era, Gaga could have made NFTs out of the Robert Wilson recreations or a 3D model of the album cover sculpture! Imagine how cool that would be even thought I could never afford none of the above :bear:

There's nothing inherently evil about NFT's. It's just that the scene is tainted with LOTS of pump and dump scams, dominated by soulless AI-generated art, and so much pretense. Also sh!tt!ng on NFTs is the "cool" thing for twitter folks who suddenly care so much about the environment, reeking of hypocrisy, while being ignorant to the fact that there are NFTs that can be "minted" for less than 0.01% the environmental cost of Ethereum-based NFTs. That means they shouldn't be overpriced at all.

As an artist, I wish the scene was different because the NFT scene could have been something more authentic. after all it's just another ecommerce platform for digital art with lots of people willing to spend. It's such a waste where the direction went.
