It could be a good thing, it could be a bad thing. I just don't like how the gaming industry is becoming a giant monopoly.

Same here. Luckily, Nintendo and Sony have amazing exclusives.

I agree with the concerns of monopolization. It’s a bit worrying. However, I do think Activision-Blizzard could benefit from this arguably more than any other Microsoft purchase due to the SA scandals having gone on. It’s clear that the management of Activision-Blizzard studios failed their employees and customers tremendously and I think Microsoft has shown a good track record with their purchases (so far). Minecraft, for instance, is still thriving under them.

Deff. Let's hope MS can build a better environment for all workers in Game industry.

So, Spyro and crash bandicoot are now owned by microsoft. So weird considering my child hood memories are me playing these on the ps1/2

I never had a PS and I try the Spyro + Crash remakes and OMG I thought the controlling system sucks :saladga: But mayb it's just me. I still had fun w/ Spyro, while Crash made me abandoned it super quickly.

I wonder how Sony will respond to this. I feel like they’re caught in the middle with Microsoft buying everything and Nintendo dominating the handheld space.

Sony doesn't have a comparable money power. And its current assets... it's a whole different story, I think. Just like Nintendo. They're different companies  on different levels.

Blizzard crumbled due to their sexual predator top management and the human atrocities those scumbags did. Now that MS will handle Bliz, I hope they redeem WOW and Diablo franchise. :iamfair:

Sony is apparently developing its own game pass, Project Spartacus, that will also include backward compatibility with all the previous playstation consoles but with no games on day one so we can expect that happening very soon in my opinion, but Sony doesn't have the money Microsoft has, Sony will never be able to do such acquisitions not even like the one of Bethesda

Uh sure they can it’s just it would hurt them but they could do a big multi billion dollar acquisition. They are a $230+ billion dollar company.

Oh no I hate this just like I hated when Blizzard merged with Activision. I've played WoW for years and the recent expansions have proved that Blizzard just isn't the same company it once was. There's gonna be even more micro transactions in the game now on top of the monthly fee, the gaming industry is becoming so monopolised.

Bored Over It GIF

Minecraft literally got better when MS bought it so idk why you’re worried… I mean the monopoly is a big oof but your fave games should be fine

It’s 100% due to the lawsuits, awful PR, sexual harassment cases, workplace conditions going public, etc. They were already struggling with stumbling PR with Overwatch releases (to my knowledge) since 2016 and just snowballed to this. Smart move on their part, a rebranding of sorts.

We’ll see what happens, maybe they’ll be able to clean up the sh*t mess that’s been happening with Blizzard’s work environment.

Sony net income in 2021 was around 11 billion dollars. MS was 61 billion. I don't think Sony can afford nothing like MS did today. But yeah, they can buy small studios.

Besides the fact that Mojang (Minecraft) and Activision Blizzard are two very different companies with very different products. Microsoft already made it clear with Bethesda that all future games will be exclusive to their platforms.
