There’s people in the US that came when they were toddlers, basically babies. Fast-forward 20-30 years, and they’re still not allowed citizenship, thus not being allowed to partake in elections. That’s horrible. And I totally agree with you. Those people should be eligible for citizenship and that's what my post was about. The issue shouldn't be wether a non-citizen should vote or not. It should be whether a non-citizen should get the citizenship or not. Because if the Law is allowing them to vote why is the State still considering them not worthy of the citizenship ? My tone was fine since the person wasn't offended. This is my exact take. If someone wishes to be a part of and will contribute to a society, they should have the right to gain citizenship fairly easily. Their corrupt system reminds me of Orwell's 1984: you can live and work there but for some reason you can't vote. Basically in every European country you need an ID in order to vote and you also need to be a citizen, and this is considered to be a norm. Corruption in most European countries is also relatively low. I don't understand how some people are even allowed to live in America for several decades even though they don't have citizenship. In European countries you become a citizen immediately if you fill all the requirements and that's it. Then you'll also have same rights and responsibilities as everyone else.
