I do admit her works from 2008 to 2015 are a bit...off. However she had art defining moments earlier in her career such as Like a Prayer, Erotica, and Ray of Light. It seems to be an inescapable pattern that A-list pop stars will lose their relatability with the general audience after a certain time. I think mostly due to their lifestyle and work contents. Gaga singing about her pain and trauma are the 'honest' reflection of her state, while it's becoming harder for the public to connect with her. Or even Katy Perry, she has not matured musically at all since the beginning of her career and she is just embarassing at this point, singing generic pop songs like she did when she was 25. I don't think her career going forward should ever be about trying to stay relevant on the charts and I don't think she cares about that either so people wishing for her to make a bubblegum pop record or whatever are going to be very disappointed IMO. I think this is a very simplistic and cliché way of looking at it. Pop music has so many valuable qualities to it - its accessible to everyone, it makes people happy, excited, lets them escape, lets them relax. And it's fun for the artists to make too. People who make pop music (a term which actually covers a huge variety of different sounds) are not all just desperately clinging to youth or chasing hits. 2School4Cool 6,065 Posted January 8, 2022 Share Posted January 8, 2022 I agree that since The Weeknd just released Dawn FM it wouldn’t work, plus people might criticize her for using Radio Gaga as a title, but overall I think the idea is awesome!! She’s such a diverse songwriter and I think this idea would give her the opportunity to create a really diverse sounding album.
