I really enjoyed it. Especially as the first album I’ve listened to of his in full!! Also, I feel like I’m the only one who is obsessed with the standard cover :air:

And...you think I didn't know that? :awkney:

Album didn't really hit me the first time around, but I gave it a few more listens and the concept is done so brilliantly, especially the story-telling   I love how the album ends with "You gotta be Heaven to see Heaven; May peace be with you". This "Afterlife" that Dawn FM tries to sell us throughout the album could be in reference either to what comes after death... or to finding peace with yourself, accepting fate, and letting go of regret despite your unfortunate experiences in life.

To add, it's interesting how some songs seem to have a dual meaning involving death. For example, "Out of Time" could be in reference to being too late to say you love someone, but also being close to death. "Take Your Breath" could be about breath play but also literally taking someone's breath and killing them. "Dawn FM" talks about being in the dark and walking towards the light, which could refer to being in a low place in your life and learning how to move on... or being in being in purgatory lol.

And overall just the imagery of waking up at dawn, having an existential crisis while listening to a retro radio program that tries to sell you the afterlife is just so haunting. Such a cool concept album. :flutter:

You should definitely check out his other albums besides maybe Starboy, only bc it drags on too long. The title track and Party Monster are bops tho. Kiss Land is an incredible experience, definitely worth a listen. BBTM is kinda hit or miss, but the hits hit super hard. And After Hours is great if you’re a production hoe, which I am :bon:

The production is FIRE! I haven't been a Weeknd fan before but this album is SO GOOD. I just wish the album cover matched the energy and storyline of the album, it's too tacky for me, but oh well. The music is there!

I listened to the album now two more times and some songs really grew on me. Don't Break My Heart and that god-awful Lil Wayne feature are still my least favorites. The former sounds just like a long drag and filler tbh, and the latter is ruined by the feature (everything else is not bad actually).

So all in all, I start to really enjoy the album, but I will definitely need more listens  .

Ew, David!

I love the continous flow of this album. Even the last song and the first song is made to flow continously with bird sounds. So if you have it on replay, you feel like you stuck on eternal loop in purgatory where you cannot proceed to afterlife.

Love it! I haven't listened to a whole album of his ever, the 80's vibes were exactly what I needed going into 2022!

I thought the cover was weird at first, but I dig it now. It's very "don't make my same mistakes"
