I dont think the ppl in power know what to do anymore tbh They are having to weigh pandemic fatigue, businesses that are on the brink of failure that cant handle yet another round of restrictions, exhausted government finances for support while trying to keep public health in mind I dont envy the Government. I have driven or walked by several businesses in the past week that are closed because most or all of their staff have Covid, and they have no one to work. Some classes in schools have no one to teach them because their teachers, substitute teachers, and staff are out with Covid. Medical staff is out with Covid. If we let the virus spread unchecked, everything's going to collapse. At the very least, there need to be mask mandates (I am in the US, and my state no longer has one because the Republican legislature took away the Democratic governor's emergency powers), and perhaps schools should go online until this surge passes. In Arizona, there were hospitals turning away people with heart attacks 'cause the cardiologists were sick and sending a non-cardiologist to treat a heart patient is like asking a carpenter to fix a car. *Having to turn away patients isn't new here but the reason is.
