Teletubby 150,092
The Recording Academy is likely to postpone the 64th annual Grammy Awards, originally set for Jan. 31 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, to a later date due to the omicron variant, according to multiple sources. A source with direct knowledge says it’s “looking likely.” This would be the 2nd year in a row that the Grammys have been postponed due to COVID-19. Last year’s show was originally set for Jan. 31, 2021, but on Jan. 5, 2021, it was delayed to March 14 due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in Los Angeles. At that time, the show was also relocated from Staples Center (the former name of Crypto.com Arena) to the nearby Los Angeles Convention Center, which allowed for less crowding. https://www.billboard.com/music/awards/grammy-awards-2022-possible-postponement-omicron-1235015182/ Update: "You b*tch!" ~ Rat Boy

G U C C I 5,469
This may sound so stupid to some but this really depresses me. I was genuinely hoping for a semi normal awards season so much.

tylerjs 5,883
COVID is going to totally kill award shows. Viewership was already tanking before, and now it probably won’t recover. A lot of people don’t watch or even subscribe to live TV anymore and they certainly don’t want to have to watch something at a certain time either. many people wont subscribe to one particular streaming service to watch an award show either, which you’ve had to do recently if you don’t have live tv cable. Plus award shows have gotten so cringey and boring when they do work out, they’re not usually even worth watching. If they really want to take a stab at saving viewership, they’ll have to do award shows streaming live on social media. Twitter, Facebook, Insta, TikTok. Those are the only places people would realistically watch something like that nowadays. If that doesn’t work, they’ll be gone for good soon. 🇨🇺🇧🇸 monica from rhoslc kinda had a point
EGOT2027 10,894
i don’t understand how we can continue to figure out ways to keep sports going, but another awards season is going to be boring zoom stuff. couldn’t they just move everything outside, have a vax mandate, and test everyone when they arrive? Virtual shows are boring. performances probably will be pre-recorded anyway, they had pre-recorded performances last year and pretended these are live.
