Those poor human beings trying (are they tho?) to find any excuses or made-up arguments to diminish HOG's and Gaga's obvious success. Just give up, life will be much better.

I...don't understand the arguments? The industry box office reporters deemed HOG a success in the pandemic era. No, there was not a bidding war over streaming (not sure where that came from) but that doesn't mean the film isn't doing very well by pandemic standarsd. When outlets like THR, Variety, and Forbes say something is a financial success, it is.... a financial success.

The success is particularly striking when you compare it to other adult dramas or R rated dramas. The only real non comic book, non established IP, non family friendly films that have done well since the pandemic era were PG 13 like Free Guy (which frankly has so many video game, etc. tie ins it might as well be a comic book film) and Quiet Place II (being a sequel always helps at the box office, but tbf it didn't get enough kudos for doing well when so much else was flopping). The films that have been succeeding are basically things like Spiderman, Shang Chi, James Bond, etc.

And yeah, by non pandemic standards it wouldn't be a success—breaking a profit before ancillary used to be the thing-but in this case HOG will probably manage to reach 140 mil (approx double it's budget) and when you add in ancillaries it will turn a profit. That's a big difference compared to films like Last Duel, which they estimated would be something like a 80+ mil loss for the studio...or even West Side Story and Nightmare Alley. But the pandemic has changed the box office.

*It's especially impressive when the surveys, etc. showed the driving force for around  half of the audience was Gaga. Not trying to insult Adam (tbh, don't know much about him, but I do like him as an actor) but he was not the major attraction for the film despite having a strong online fan base (the surveys, and the fact that his other non Star Wars films have not done well financially even if they did critically). So yeah, some of those industry reporters were expecting the surveys to be like "we went for the star wars guy" more than "Gaga is what brought us to the movie."

ASIB was sorta seen as a novelty. Or Gaga just playing a version of herself. The film version of a one hit wonder. But with HoG, she proved she could not only carry a movie, but carry an R Rated movie, during a pandemic, that received mixed to bad reviews.

Well done, Gags!

I'm sorry, but you're so ignorant. Can't you see the press HOG is receiving for being the most successful adult drama of the year? You're literally creating a situation that exists only in your mind, far different from what is being published on Deadline, Variety, and other publications that actually matter. And, in case you don't know, MGM started reducing the number of locations the movie is available on Dec 17. It went from 3404 to 1907, then to 907. The movie isn't losing audience, it lost locations because MGM had Licorice Pizza available in only 4 theaters. And with all those movies released in the last two weeks, it wasn't possible to keep HOG in all 3404 theaters anymore. Otherwise, Licorice would never reach a wider audience.

It's well established that HOG is the second most popular award contender this year, only behind of Dune. All the other movies are huge flops, including Belfast and King Richard.

Remember I told you you're imagining something that doesn't exist? Yeah, the narrative is this one:

If I was Gaga or the movie's PR, I'd be highlighting the fact that she actually drew in younger audiences instead of older audiences according to the demographic breakdowns in the polling. Millenials and older Gen Z showed out for her. It's super important to note because older audiences are avoiding movie theaters due to covid, and it's also super difficult to get some of Gen Z to even watch a movie, let alone a non-franchise drama movie. She's the new movie star the studios have been looking for. :applause:
