Akiki 3,900
This are bad news in my opinion. If the movie was good this could have made 250+ million by now. If a Marvel Movie made a billion in 12 days during a pandemic I don’t think we should see this has a great result. Also, K Stew is getting more buzz lately, with Kidman following and Gaga it’s going down. At this point I hope the nomination is locked. Winning seems very unlikely now. 125 million it’s enough. But it isn’t a success. It’s still “dodged the bullet” territory. We really need to snatch some awards to revive it.

These numbers are great for a rated R adult drama released during a pandemic, which has had two extremely contagious variants ravaging during its release period I truly don't understand why some ya'll thrive on always looking at the negative side of things. You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.

This is literally the first R-rated drama to gross $50M in like two years??? this is an incredible achievement given we're still in a pandemic. Also why compare gucci to a marvel film is beyond me??? It doesn't make sense. Out of all the Oscar nominated films in contention this year, Gucci has grossed the most out of all them and it's not even in the running for best picture anymore. Unfortunately none of the films have made close to what Gucci has made which makes it even more of a win for Gaga and MGM because it officially establishes her as a box-office draw which I'm sure a lot of other studios moving forward will be interested in. Also as much as Gaga slayed this role, I don't know why y'all want her to win so bad for her second movie?? This is literally only the beginning of her movie career and I'd rather her win for an all-round better movie than an average one at best. A nomination would be a win in itself. you can serve it to me ancient city style...

Yes House of Gucci made bank. But it’s not a Box office Smash. The movie is surviving. The highest R Rated Drama from 2019 its Joker with a BO of 1 Billion dollars. In 2020 the biggest R Rated Drama made 15 million and it was a BO Bomb. House of Gucci it’s doing ok. Thats it. And even with Spencer failing BO wise, somehow K-Stew is still the number one pick and Kidman will be second soon enough.

It doesn’t make sense? If a Marvel Movie can top pre pandemic numbers there is no reason For House of Gucci to underperform. It’s that simple. The problem isn’t the pandemic. Sony had it’s biggest movie ever. Sure, marvel fans are obsessed but still… if they can snatch a billion it means that the audiences are interested in going to movies. A Star is Born had the same rating and much less star power and still made 400M+ in 2018. So, HOG should at least hit close enough. But it won’t cause the movie sucks in comparison. The biggest warning is that HOG drops more than 40% each week. That isn’t a good sign at all. It means that it won’t make much more money. I do hope it still reaches 200m. The movie is floating with Gaga star power and performance but it needs to snatch awards to at least drag it’s lifetime a but more in theaters. With 40%-50% drops the movie is losing audiences fast and that normally means bad WOM. If it wasn’t for Gaga and a strong start this would bomb hard. Which means it’s audience is automatically bigger. Also Spider-Man is a known character for decades on top of marvel having characters from different movies in the same movie. House of Gucci is a type of movie that many people will automatically not be interested in on top of being a complete new story for cinema.

Are Marvel movies immune to covid? If the pandemic was a factor it would be impossible to hit that mark. There is no way marvel could hit a billion in 12 days. No way! And not only that. It’s the biggest movie for Sony. Of all time. Those are two incredible feats for a movie released during a pandemic. A feat that sony never achieved in a time pre covid. My point is not the brand. It’s the market. The market was ready and HOG (while doing better than any other R rated drama since 2019) it’s still very low from regular numbers. The biggest R Rated movie from 2019 was the Joker. An anomaly of a movie, sure. But the average from R Rated movies would be 200+ and I dont see House of gucci nearing it. 200 million was the BO from straight out of Compton.
