I'm glad the books and movies helped you:heart:  but they never said that trans people forced them to dislike Harry Potter:triggered:. They just said that it was because of JKR hateful opinions, thats it. Harry Potter fans need to calm down a little bit sometimes :selena:

and btw I'm not an ''angry social justice warrior'' that kinda feels like an insult to trans people who criticize transphobia:crossed:. we're not crazy, we just don't like transphobia...

anyway... gonna watch the special this week

I'd just like to gently let you know you just put a LOT of words in my mouth with your reply - everything I said in my comment was about my own experience. I was in no way insinuating that it was what @bionic experienced, or claiming that any criticism of Rowling is wrong or invalid.

Not to be rude, but your reply basically highlights my main issue here with how others dogpile any mention of Harry Potter. Somehow my comment led you to the conclusion that I was insulting trans people or anyone who opposes transphobia... which couldn't be further from the truth.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the special.

I just started watching it. Rivers of tears as Emma received her invitation to return to Hogwarts in the library :bradley:

I expected more to be honest from this Reunion. Do not get me wrong! i enjoyed watching it and remembering the excitement of reading a Book for the first time or watching a movie in the Cinema , but can not help but feel they missed a great oportunity to Make something even bigger. Many actors or producers do not even meet on screen for example! Many of them Are missing ( for me most notably Dame Maggie Smith 😭 ) . And even JK! I know She is controversial now but at the End She gave us this magical world and surely Had something to say…

I sobbed the entire time… and the subtle shade everyone kept throwing towards JK was great. JKR was not a part of this reunion and her “interviews” taken from the WB London Studio Tour in 2019 are a total of minute compiled… she’s barely there and the only person her mentions her is the producer David Heyman… it was so well done… I just wanted to see more of them interact together… but COVID I’m sure had a lot to do with that.

Yeah it’s more like...critical thinking should be applied to everything rather than simply operating in a good-bad binary. That’s VERY hard with something so steeped in nostalgia hence the intensity around JKR and her transphobia from those who love HP.

OT:

I really loved the special and those critics saying she needed to be in it more were dead wrong. It had nothing to do with her, really. Her role in the films was soooo high level and really only existent because of her writing the books. But the thing is, the special is so squarely focused on the movie process that I think those critics were out here looking to defend her rather than actually give a fair assessment of the special which didn’t really need her. If anything, the missing cast members were felt more (though I’m sure it was super hard scheduling EVERYONE to do this that they cut folks so I understand). Like, I wasn’t watching this and felt, wow I bet JKR had more thoughts on this or this. I mean, we know she approves of everything or it wouldn’t be in the movies lmao way more interesting to hear about little anecdotes from the set of the films themselves

It was amazing, we cried so much especially when they talked about the once that passed away since the movies :bradley:

Okay so I was able to suppress the memories that JK Rowling exists and brought myself to watch it and oh boy, did I cry :selena:

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

I've cried for the whole time but it's probably one of the best things of these holidays.

As a huge HP fan ofc I loved seeing them all together but this is underwhelming and I think this could have been done so much better. There was something missing and I was left feeling underwhelmed. There were some beautiful moments especially that segment where they talked about people that passed but other than that it felt.. Emotionless? I don’t know. Just sharing my thoughts.

It is just reunion show with casts reminiscing of their glory past. What else could be done better?
