I don't think all artists care that much about owning the rights like Taylor. Some just want to sing tour and enjoy the lavish life and also their family life. I think Gaga and Shakira comes under this category. Gaga also wouldn't care if her masters were passed from interscope to jayz to republic etc

Don't feel too bad, it's possible to sell the rights to your music and still make money from it. When Scott Borchetta sold Taylor's masters to Scooter Braun, she was still earning money from that for publishing (songwriting and/or production credits). When Scooter Braun sold the masters to the Shamrock group he had a clause saying he had to get x% of the revenue from sales apparently which is why Taylor refused to partner with them. It's possible to sell the rights to your catalog and retain a percentage of future royalties. I think Jack Antonoff also did something like that

I don't think she can do anything about it. btw Mark Ronson and RedOne also sold their catalogs to Hipgnosis Songs so Hipgnosis has Shallow, Bad Romance...
