I’m not shading artists who do want to change up their songs, remixes can be really fun at concerts, but I prefer hearing them the way I know and love them. I think acoustic versions are sometimes a nice change (I adore TEOG on piano), but why play a remix of Poker Face when fans love the original? I’m a big fan of Elton John, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, etc. and there’s no thrill like hearing a classic song you’ve loved for years in concert, I’d be so bummed if Elton played some totally new arrangement for Bennie and the Jets when the original is such a classic. You get it I'll also accept songs that swap from a cool arrangement to the original track like Britney did for Toxic at her Vegas shows. The "Jungle" remix, I think it's called. An acoustic-ish portion of the song before that iconic production comes in Or songs that end on a remix like Gaga's done for Poker Face, Just Dance, LoveGame, Judas, and Applause You're stinky

I also think remixes in medleys can be fun. For example, P!nk did a medley of revamped versions of her singles from her debut album on The Truth About Love Tour and it was iconic! And I’m also not shading Katy for using remixes during this show, I think they work well, but 90% of the time I just prefer keeping songs true to how I love them on the album. spicemuncher 1,708
I am a Katy fan and I like aspects of this, but the biggest let down is the stage lighting. The majority of it is restricted to the outer rectangle of the stage and it makes the performances themselves a little lackluster. If they had better and stronger lights incorporated within the performances that sync up to the music or percussion, the entire thing would have been 100x better. Honestly, when I heard of the concept, I thought it was going to be more trippy but this comes off more on the junior side. I say this with love, but pop girls that are well into their careers shouldn’t be dumbing down their shows and treading the line of tacky when their hardcore fanbase who grew up with them have probably aged out of the childish theatrics. Guest
Y’all know what Katy serves yet you still act like you’re brand new & criticize her endlessly. If you don’t like her then stop coming to threads about her just to be negative? Even when she gave something DIFFERENT y’all complained. It’s clear that the problem is y’all, not Katy. If Katy is successful, then Gaga still be successful, and Britney will be successful again when she's ready and so on. I will support Katy in this new journey. It's not about what the fans are coming to see, Billy Joel literally hates Just The Way You Are for instance. If the arrangement is updated and fun and interesting then i think it only makes the performance greater

Guest
Wow! Katy is consistent with her productions .. not a fan of her stage presence though.. it feels like she is just reeling off at many times which is a bit of a turn off for but still she manages to surprise me still and I'm not really even a big fan

The first night, people are usually always on "guard" trying to remember everything from rehearsals. Really can't wait to see some footage from later down the road. You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.
