Her acting is like a SNL scene, it gets really boring pretty quickly.

she is in the movie for a few minutes, I don't see how she managed to bore you, she has minimal screen time

I mean, literally... That's why any criticism aimed towards Ariana in particular sounds like hypocrite pop stan Twitter talk. I'm not even a big fan of hers, there just really isn't any reason to single her out here, especially if the criticism is her being "boring".

it's ridiculous criticism... she's playing a parody of a vapid pop star and she's in the movie for a few minutes, I don't see what there is to criticize. But if THEIR fave was in the movie with the same role, they would be starting Oscar talk.

Parts of it are really clever, but some of the satire is a tad too heavy-handed. Generally, I'd say it's a good movie, but maybe not great.

It's my favorite film of the year and I don't get how anyone in their right mind would pretend this isn't excellent filmmaking. It's both funny and thought-provoking, and the cast is top-notch with great performances all the way through the numerous secondary characters. Everyone around me loved it as well. Not just enjoyed it: LOVED it.

People just don't get the satire especially one that shows the reality of what would happen

What's incredible with this film is that I don't even think it's that satirical - I could literally imagine everything that's going on there happening irl. I think it doesn't even match the buffoonery that might have happened behind closed doors, especially at the White House...

I think it's the best film I've seen this year personally

I can't see how someone can say that about this particular movie. It has a clear message (a caricature about how society is reacting to climate change and other social events, I guess). There is no sub-plot, no hidden message, and the viewer leaves the room getting the message without even thinking too much about it (so I doubt this film can impact people's lives). It's a piece of entertainment, and I would say it's funny at times, but nothing more than that. Ariana's musical performance is cringe-worthy and the lowest part of the film. Her acting is like a SNL scene, it gets really boring pretty quickly.

Okay Roger Ebert. Calm down. Ariana’s not your fave obviously. But the movie wasn’t as bad as you say it was, it was pretty entertaining.

That is the definition of a satire :huntyga:

Will she shade her after this, the way she did with Gaga and ASIB? :poot:

She might if she gets cast in something else major.

I love it. :ladyhaha: People on this site always associate poor reactions to something a pop girl puts out with hateful stan behavior. It's insulting. It seems like people could not formulate an impartial opinion and express it without an agenda. I love Ariana, she's an icon, I love her music and I think she is talented af. However, I didn't buy her performance here. Am I stupid for thinking that? :interestinga:

I think what people are trying to say here is that there isn't much to say about Ariana's performance since she's basically there for a minute and plays a satirical version of herself. So singling her out for allegedly dropping the ball does feel a little deliberate - there wasn't much for her to sink her teeth into in the first place.
