Maybe because he's more in the Latin market but still...that makes him one of the biggest artists right now and other than the thrist threads over his average looks...I can't understand why he's so popular

He has at least 20 hit songs, he goes viral several times a year with each release. I'm not really a fan of him but I'm pretty sure he's the biggest artist in the world right now.

I'm bored so i looked up at Mexico's top 50 chart on Spotify and he currently has 7 songs charting and only two are new he's so big here, you have no idea.  I can't name all of his hits but I'm pretty sure I can sing at least 10 of his songs by memory, he's everywhere

This not the case of an artist that is streamed from a specific country or region only. He was the 9th most streamed artist in the US yesterday, for example (bigger than most of y’all’s faves).

Congrats! Def the new king of Reggaeton for sure. And king of streams.

Latin streams count for a lot of people, and even more worldwide nations listening to reggaeton these days is what did this record. So I'm not super shocked but he his winning nevertheless. And he has worked really hard, well deseeved.

Some latino artists like Shakira, Maluma, Bad Bunny and J Balvin get some insane number of streams. Their music gets played like everywhere here so no wonder he'd reach 10b. His target audience is pretty much the average Spotify listener. He was starting to be popular back when he released that collaboration with Cardi B but during the pandemic he dropped so much music he became like the Drake from Latin America. His music is on repeat in every club, bar, house party, gym, restaurant, etc.

I do like him and think he's an interesting person but not really a fan of his music. I rarely listen to it, don't enjoy his voice that much.
