The housing crisis is why my husband (who is from Hamilton) is immigrating here instead of me immigrating to Ontario. I would love to live in Canada, but it's so damn expensive

We got good job oppurtunities, wages, good services and living standards overall

 

But Housing costs alone are wiping out most economic benefits of living here unless u were fortunate to buy a house many years ago in which case ur asset rich now

His parents are selling their home and moving to Nova Scotia in January. I was SHOCKED to hear how much they sold it for, especially considering what the paid for it back in the '90s. It's a simple suburban 3 bed/1 bath, with an unfinished basement, house, but the demand is so high it was listed and sold within 3 days.

Sounds like a typical story

 

Last year my grandparents in Toronto sold their 110 year old semi-attached house in less than stellar condition for $1.65M in less than a week (around $1.3M in USD)

 

They bough a bangaloo in the suburbs near us for $960,000... its value has since surged past $1M
