I’m trying to find a time to get my booster, in the meantime will my vaccinations be a good enough barrier? I don’t wanna catch it before I get boosted.

Yes. I am not eligible for a booster yet and I've been masking up when I'm in crowded places. Keep doing what you've been doing and you should be okay. And, for the love of god, if you're sick stay home. I can't believe the amount of people I saw at the mall who were hacking left and right. Stay safe!

There will never be such a thing. So, you can either live in isolation for the rest of your life or start learning to live with the fact covid-19 is here to stay. Stop giving into the media hype, we are in a much better position than Christmas 2020 but they won't admit it, because it doesn't give them ratings.

That’s easier said than done, it’s not like I get to decide what I can and can’t do when most of my life decisions need to follow protocols (which are different in each country and are constantly changing - as they are with the spike in Omicron). Also it’s never been about “hype”, my aunt (vaccinated 3 times) caught the omicron variant and she was my grandma’s caretaker and now my family needs to cancel winter break plans to look after her. Everyone is being affected by this virus in rippling ways and we’re never really going to be able to just accept it or deal with it, especially because every time we mentally get to that place, things start to get shakey again. Your reply gives me an indirect undertone of “quite complaining” and I hate to come off like it but I’m only human at the end of the day and we need to normalize feeling despair because talking about it will make us feel better not neglecting it and brushing it off.

I totally get that feeling of hopelessness and despair, I mean hello...that was all of 2020 for me. But, for your sanity and mental health, you've got to try and push through it.

We’re in a better position than 2020, even though this feels like that again and the media are doing their damndest to cause panic. Part of me is almost relieved… like if this is worse but shorter it will get a lot of immunity into the population and get us closer to endemic status.

Two doses isn't great, unfortunately -- I read two doses of Pfizer is about 30% effective and it's similar for the others as well. Getting a booster gets you up to about 75% against omicron, so I'd say get it as soon as you can!

Just made an appointment to get boosted tomorrow at 7:30 PM at my local pharmacy, thanks for letting me know!

Tested positive and dealing with omicron (most likely) from the symptoms i have right now. Caught it at work from a colleague. It's just a very mild cold, not even as bad as a cold tbh. I still have my smell and taste which is a bonus. I know other people dealing with this right now to and they are  exactly the same. My guess is that data will eventually show that omicron is much less lethal. It kinda sucks to have it over Christmas but i've rescheduled Christmas plans so i guess I just enjoy my time in isolation in the meantime.

and we've seen case counts and hospitalizations explode. I figure it's only a matter of time before the death counter starts rising again.

This isn’t true.  Cases are rising "sharply" in New York City but hospitalizations are not, health commissioner says.  And if hospitalizations are rising in some areas, it’s unvaccinated Delta people.  There has been a handful of deaths globally so far.  Let’s wait a little while before we start saying omicron “isn’t much less lethal.”  The data so far shows it is, in fact, far less lethal.

You aren’t eligible? Is it a state thing because I thought POTUS said anyone over 18 could get it.

Wow this one spread so damn fast lol.

Anyways all these news are boring. Everytime the situation gets slightly better than boom a new wave, new variant, new restrictions etc... It's truly a never ending cycle

I live in New York, I actually realized shortly after that I already have something planned for tomorrow at 7:30 so I rescheduled it for the 28th because that was the only other date available

Argentum

ugh i got it last week. Wasn't that bad.

No symptoms other than some crazy fever spikes.

Also lost sense of taste for a couple of days.

The amount of people who are getting it here in NYC is crazy.

I know so many people who have had it the last couple of weeks and none of them gave it to me.

Stay safe
