TaylorSwift 162,699
A woman has said she was groped by a stranger while working as a beta tester on Meta's Horizon Worlds platform. Horizon World enables users to socialize and play games with up to 20 other avatars. In a post in the beta testers' official Facebook group, the unnamed woman said that her avatar was groped by a stranger, and other users had supported the incident. Following the woman's post, Meta launched an internal investigation into the incident. It added that Meta concluded that at the time of the incident, the victim hadn't turned on a safety feature designed to prevent harassment on the platform. Safe Zone can be activated by users if they feel threatened on the platform. The feature is designed to stop other users from interacting with them. source https://store.taylorswift.com

Kitsch 499
I’m sorry, but to be honest, her statements are kind of discrediting people which actually had to go through this in real life. This is like saying “someone tried to kill me, in Habbo Hotel” majkl > kitsch
HuffsAhoy 7,433
"Groped online" Sad this is the direction society is heading in You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.
PhantomOfTheDance 13,795
In the Metaverse and VR Chat, it is possible to turn on a bubble that makes people's characters who get close to you disappear. I do think there should be more awareness regarding sexual harassment in game lobbies. Girls and women are often harassed and made fun of over and over again in games with voice chat, and it's stressful. It's to the point that woman hardly bother speaking, which sucks when you're playing a team-oriented game. I don't think this should be the norm. I don't think what she experienced was actual groping, no. It's not the same as real life. But I can slightly see her point in which continuously being groped can induce trauma from past experiences and become annoying, making it hard to really have fun. PartySick 172,982
I'm not sure why I didn't realize "virtual molestation" would be a thing. Truly we live in the future How about instead of telling her to activate a "safe zone", you punish people who are going to use virtual reality to be creeps? Â this woman's specific issue is pretty tame but you know there's going to be some creepy sh*t happening on that platform. They should be ready for it. They should be ready for it. I am a content moderator at a social media platform, and I’ve read articles and seen videos about Content Moderation at FB/META. To be honest, the content at FB/META is so severe that I don’t think that they’re going to focus on the metaverse that much. I mean, imagine having to go through dark web and having to delete and report some of those videos to the authorities. That’s basically what they’re doing. I haven’t read the internal policies for the metaverse so I don’t know if they already have like, policies on this. But I do think that there’s a lot of severe content that needs to be moderated, and would be prioritised over this kind of content. majkl > kitsch
