What did you think about it when you were 9-10?

Honestly? I can’t really remember everything I thought… I just remember being very surprised about how it’s „technically“ done. lol

I'm not saying she's wrong (she makes a great point) but damn if this isn't just another example of how Gen Z is getting more conservative. Not in a political sense but socially, I think as a result of the dilution and misuse of "woke-ness".

The point of being "woke" was originally to point out injustices, especially racism. Unfortunately it's become more of a competition for who can out-woke each other and win the most internet points.

For example, the advent of cancel culture - which can be a good thing when used correctly -  has been warped and squandered by these young kids demanding apologies from every public figure that they perceive has done the slightest thing to offend them, or reaching to find a reason to cancel someone, seemingly for sport.

Or the endless lambasting of pride parades every June. The amount of Gen Zers I saw crying on Twitter about pride parades this past year was nauseating. They think they are being ultra-woke but really they're just aligning themselves with conservatives, feeding into the narrative that gays are corrupting deviants - the exact opposite of the intention of pride.

I fear the woke-ness is doubling back and the kids are re-discovering conservative ideologies without realizing it. Like the snake eating its own tail.

You know, I don't always agree with your posts but you really brought up some insightful points and I 100% agree. The pendulum has swung too far and it needs to be closer to center. Everything in moderation...balance in all things.

Just because you have no self-control doesn't mean you get to ruin it for the rest of us.

That's not how addiction works.

Why must you divide this into a liberal vs conservative issue? Even at the social level as you mention.

You don't need to be conservative to realize how damaging P0rn really is. Likewise, you do not need to be a liberal to be sexually free and unashamed.

Billie makes some interesting points and as a gen z myself, perhaps we do not care if certain things attribute more with certain identities - like if it aligns with typical conservative or liberal thinking. In the end, we just want what's best for society and ourselves.

y'all blaming her parents for not protecting her from p*rn as if they could they stop her from being exposed via friends, which how i witnessed my first p*rn :enigma:

the older generation doesn't understand the danger of the internet and nor do kids today beyond their social media apps :enigma: children and teens for generations have (and will) rebelled against parents to engage in things considered wrong so it's not as black and white as blaming her parents

Everybody : **** messes up your brain

My question is how?

the same with any addiction, you won't recognize the danger until it's too late

because overconsumption of p*rn can damage your mental health, like it did mine

developing insecurities, exposure to violent material, all kinds of things when your brain is still maturing

She's the best, honestly.
I agree - plus just as a habit it's pretty bad, especially if you consume it every day no matter what. I think it's no good for a healthy brain and a good sex life

I agree with her that p0rn can be incredibly damaging, especially for women. But that's not the inhearant nature of p0rnography. The p0rnography our culture produces is a reflection of what is going on in our society at large and what we expect sex to be like. It's more a symptom of what's wrong, and not the actual problem. All the things that people say are bad about p0rn mirror the problems women especially face anyway in their everyday life: violence, disregard of consent, exploitation, emotional manipulation, unrealistic body standards, degradation.

The problem at root is rampant misogyny, hypersexualisation of female bodies in the media and pop culture, while at the same time sex education in the USA being non-existant (only 18 states in the US require their sex ed to be "medically accurate" and of those states more than half say sex ed is not mandatory). That's breeding ground for body image issues, misinformation, miseducation and p0rn addictions.

Abolishing p0rn, making it less accessible or shaming people who consume or participate in it, is not gonna help the problem. Even if you say you were "hurt by p0rn". Because in the end... you were hurt by the system you grew up in that told you both to be dirty sl*t and that you're worthless if you are dirty sl*t. A system that refused to give you proper tools to deal with an inevitable part of your existance, your sexuality.

Read all the other posts. An adolescent brain, and arguably many adult brains, are not adequately prepared to deal with the dopamine overload that **** causes.

I'm anti- ****. It is everywhere! A social disease! Very harmful and many psychopaths and killers have had their problems with it. It messes with the mind and very destructive, to men and women. Ancient Rome had the same problem, even little kids were exposed to these shameful images! A heartless society! I'm glad she spoke about this, someone had to say it!!!

What is tough is when your bf sees p*rn and stuff thats done typically only in **** (choking, gagging, etc) and tries to act that out and its not necessarily normal, and when you are young and impressionable too, you go along with it , when it's not normal unless you consent to it
