It’s so obviously this. Whether the word is ‘racist’ or not is irrelevant. It’s specifically intended to be disrespectful. The word is only used in the context of white people which is offensive to some. And just like people rush in to these threads to say how no one should be able to tell others  how to feel, they should not be doing the same here. But the far left wing is just as bad as the far right and only applies rules to the other side. It’s so exhausting.

Who said it’s as bad and who cares? You can’t demand that people not use derogatory terms toward you WHILE using derogatory terms toward someone else. Make it make sense. And if you were implying that I’m white I’m not. And I’m not black either. But what I am is one of the growing number of people who are tired of all the whining the left does while behaving badly themselves. I’ll most likely sit out the next election cause y’all are just too obnoxious and I want no part of it.

The culture war is between the far left and far right unfortunately. I can’t relate to either side and somehow these fringe groups are dictating what both parties are doing. I’ve been called homophobic, racist, transphobic, etc etc by the LEFT. I make a comment that it’s not ok to use derogatory terms and am told that I’m comparing cracker to the N-word and want so badly to be oppressed. I’m not even white. It’s so bizarre. As someone who was previously given a warning on this very forum for ostensibly being racist against white people (by talking about larger macro trends in society which must have been above the mods' pay grades), I would like to be excluded from this narrative. btw I am white lol and don't hate myself, the warning was ridic and almost made me never wanna come back here. The way people want reverse racism to be real so bad, I can't. 

Anyway, Hasan can be annoying, but this is ridiculous and Twitch SHOULD be called out.

Also, not going to bother to quote you, but to the user saying TWITCH CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT -- I mean, sure, what they did is probably within their legal rights as a private company. That 1) doesn't mean it's right, and 2) doesn't mean we don't have the right to criticize. The way some of you act like a company having a "right" to do something means everyone has to shut up and isn't allowed to critique it is really something.

P.S. -- There is a difference between systemic racism and general prejudice. Calling someone a "cracker" in some contexts will read as a pejorative, sure, and could be based on prejudice. However, it does not equal the N word and it does not rise to the level of systemic racism when it's not a minority group that his THROUGHOUT history faced oppression. It's literally the definition most of us use, just to clarify.
