The LA Times did an exposé early this year and revealed that the Golden Globes had 0 black members. This caused a major backlash and NBC refused to air this year’s GG award ceremony. Now they have added 21 new members which includes a bunch of black voters as well. Basically, people are going to avoid them for like a year and then it will be normal again lol

QUEENH 711
Remember all last year when some of you were calling Gaga lazy and not creative? And here she is excelling in music and film and receiving the highest honors. The disrespect and lack of faith you have in her blows my mind sometimes. But she always makes you look like clowns
RichAssPiss 4,928
Between this and the Globes the lineup of Coleman, Chastain, Stewart. Gaga. Kidman looks likely at Oscars with Haim as a potential spoiler (who I think will get in because PTA majorly over represented at the Oscars back with Phantom Thread - he's strong there). Gaga and Chaistain are most vulnerable as the only likely above the line nominees for those films. So fingers crossed!

We must also remember that the SAGs are really important for the Oscars and so far a majority of SAG members have loved Gaga’s performance. I was stalking one of the SAG voters on twitter and he revealed that HoG is one of the first screeners sent to the members. He also said that this will help the movie. But because of their wide membership across SAG-AFTRA, they tend to lean more populist where the Academy has a bit of an insider edge to it. I think that's why PTA plays a bit better there than at SAG or Globes.

MOT 3,071
Bookmakers odds for the Oscar are unchanged. Kristen is a very strong favourite at a price of 8/15, which means that they give her about a 65% chance of winning. Gaga is the second favourite at a price of 7/1, which means that they give her about a 12% chance of winning. Everyone else is rated as having a smaller chance than Gaga. In case anyone doesn't know what a bookmaker is, they are basically the ultimate non-bs merchants. They deal in cold hard cash. If you want to put a $100 bet on Gaga to win the Oscar, they'll put up $700 that says no. But if you want to put $150 on Kristen, they'll only put up $80 that says no.
