It actually looks incredible and has received acclaim from critics, the problem is there’s so many films being released around this time and Matrix is coming soon they would’ve been better releasing this on Netflix as an exclusive over Christmas.

To everyone saying, "It's just another remake, no one asked for it." Apparently the movie is really good though. I haven't seen it, so I can't 100% speak on the quality of the film, but every review I've seen is praising the movie to the high heavens. The fact that it's a remake, I don't think, is the issue.

wow surprised at all the hate here for musicals in general and this one in specific. honestly i was very excited for the remake because imo the original film has aged terribly. i saw it on friday night in imax and thought it was terrific. a bit long but that’s not surprising. sad it’s not doing better, seems like musicals aren’t doing so great during the pandemic

I've heard about it (saw some ads on TV and a interview with the female lead, Rachel Zegler, praising Gaga), but don't plan to watch it 'cause is also not my cup of tea... however it's funny to see people on GGD bashing remakes while Bradley's ASIB exists lol

Well clearly the budget for PR/advertising wasn’t there because I completely forgot this movie was coming out. That’s prob why it’s not doing as good as originally thought.

There’s actually tons of support for this in the theater community at large, surprisingly since usually originals are favored more. The original is an American classic yes, but has problems.

I think he who must not be named is out of contention, not even being considered, and I think it’ll definitely come up, but they casted, shot and were originally supposed to release the movie before anything came up, so idk.

Yes I agree with you. What’s messy is that the official WSS twitter is promoting that guy in their recent tweets and people are dragging the movie because of that. They should just remove him from the marketing plan.
