Speak Easy 324
I usually have had a pretty good sense of things since the 2004 election. My family is super political and we have bets who we think will be the next president. I am 29, and I have been right (even when I disagreed with who I thought would win) every time. I knew Bush would beat Kerry in 04’ because we were mid-war, Kerry was uninspiring, and the economy seemed fine and incumbents typically don’t lose when people feel they have financial security. I knew Obama would win in 08’ because I felt by then people were ready for a black president, over the republican leadership of the war, were looking for a new approach to the recession, and Sarah Palin made a laughing stock of McCain. I knew Obama would win again in 12’ because Mitt Romney screwed up his debates, polarized many by being a Mormon, and Obama had inspired people enough to keep the momentum going towards a better economy. He had also found Osama Bin Ladin. I knew Trump would win in 16’ because the alt right movement that started as the tea party had become so jaded and hateful that a black man had been in power…they wanted to believe things could “go back” through the vessel of some larger than life character: Donald Trump. Really his win I think came down to people unable to face the fact that the millennials and Gen Z’ers started to talk about changing things on social media that it overwhelmed them and they felt left out…which is true in a way. But the representation they chose was the most ridiculous hyperbolic reactionary president ever. I knew Biden would win in 20’ not because it was Biden..but an extreme reaction to getting Trump out. Like…many of my friends that voted for Biden do not like Biden…they just wanted Trump out. I think, especially with the pandemic, many decided to vote for a calm uneventful president guided by a strong woman over someone like Trump who was meddling and toying with chaos. So here comes 2024: It depends on a variety of circumstances, but as of right now, I definitely see a very clear path for a Donald Trump win in 2024. The cards are in his favor. Let’s be honest, the economy does not look so good right now, and with gas prices rising (it doesn’t matter whose fault it really is, regardless, the average Pennsylvanian/Ohioan/Michigan voter WILL hold that against Biden), people not working, a coronavirus that is still very much happening (we had the highest number of hospitalizations yesterday since January because of Omicron), and an overall lack of energy in this administration to gear people to get motivated about…literally anything…it seems very dull for the Democrats. Joe Biden isn’t a bad guy. He is just s bad president. The only hope would be if he stepped down maybe to VP and let Kamala take the reigns. But even her poll numbers are waning. Meanwhile, knowing that the Trump cult is primarily motivated by anger and fear, I think there is a lot of pent up energy boiling beneath the surface. They cling to Trump like he can do nothing wrong and love swimming in his pool of lies. 2024 is gonna feel like s “Hail Mary to Save Americuh!” to them. And I think Trump is probably sitting with a team right now putting together his plan of attack. The guy does not play by the rules and he will play dirtier this time. He will try and drag Biden down. And tbh…it will be easy to. Biden is clearly getting weak. I also could see DeSantis, the Florida Governor, who is VERY popular among republicans at the moment, replacing Pence as VP. Trump hates Pence and obviously he will fire anyone…he’s gonna pick DeSantis…and if that happens…it id over folks. Florida is a huge state. Idk folks….what do you think? I honestly think we cannot beat Trump again with Biden…sorry. It’s just not realistic at all. And do we really want an 80 year old moderate representing modern Democrats anyway? It seems kind of pointless.
weed 78,895
I don't think Trump will win but I think it's very likely a Republican could win (but if they're running against Trump, idk! So.. idk.) Will be a very interesting election.
Nemo 4,410
My prediction is that Trump will be in prison, in self-imposed exile, or dead, by 2024. I disagree with most of what you said about Biden.
Fresco 1,688
The mid-terms after a party takes all 3 President/House/Senate usually will revert to the other party. It's just the way it usually goes. I don't think Trump has a prayer of winning the Presidency again after he lost by 7 million votes in 2020. But if he is nominated, the democratic nominee will gladly trounce him daily until the democratic victory in 2024!
HuffsAhoy 7,433
I agree with you about Biden. Not shockingly, everything about his tenure has been an utter embarrassment. If they are dumb enough to run him again in 2024, you can say goodbye to a D in the White House ever again. There will 100% be a Republican win in 2024. However, there is no way it will be Trump. His empire is slowly, finally, beginning to crumble with the indictments of his closest allies by the Jan. 6 Commission. Desantis has already stated he isn't interested in running for the office, and given his wife's recent cancer diagnosis it seems less likely he will bite the bullet and run. The Dems have to really step their game up and start canvassing (like yesterday tbh) to ensure they don't have a total defeat in the 2022 midterms, though that's looking likely. The left needs to get over their fear or whatever you want to call it of the moderate voters, especially those in the Rust Belt and South. I'm on the ground here in the South, and I know so many people who have voted blue in the past but have become disillusioned by their ticket and frankly the entire system, tbh. In 2016, Trump campaigned in all these places while Hilary rubbed elbows with city-slickers. If you're someone on the edge, who are you gonna vote for? The person who, despite flaws, took the time to come to your small town and meet the voters or the person who is jetting across the country to every liberal city ignoring you? The answer is obvious. These are not stupid people and the consensus among the elite left that the South is full of dumb rednecks doesn't help their case. You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love. Supersonic 49,376
Trump is 100% gonna win again if he runs. It's scary to think about, but so far the Biden administration has created nothing but political apathy for anybody who doesn't identify as a right-winger or centrist. The popular argument used to be "Yeah, the dems are sucky libs, but at least you can talk to them and bully them into doing the right thing.", but honestly after almost a year in power, not a lot has changed in the US. ICE still exists, the detention camps for immigrants still exist and their existance has been exteded by the Biden admin, Biden actually rolled out more fracking permits than Trump did in his presidency, the covid response is still awful, Police has not been demilitarized, there have been no efforts to like... improve upon issues of police brutality, institutional racism. What's gonna happen is that the political left will see a massive drop off in voters in the next presidental election, especially young voters. Which will benefit the Republicans. A huge red wave is practically inescapable.
Fresco 1,688
Unemployment is at 4.2%, super low. Interest rates are still very low for mortgages and cars. Money still being pumped to people for dependent deductions. Insulin capped at $35 a month. Big infrastructure bill with money going to every state. Lots of good things to be happy about for lots of people. Hate the high gas prices, get an electric car, now, today. Just do it.

Yeah, as if lower to middle class Americans can afford an electric car Most of them barely can afford one car payment, let along two. These lofty "just get over yourself and do it" statements are what's costing the Dems critical support. You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love. A huge red wave is practically inescapable. This exactly is what I mean. I know people think that Trump has “ruined” himself but liberals often miss how loyal his supporters are. It genuinely is cult-like behavior. He may have lost by 7 million in 2020 but that doesn’t matter. He doesn’t need to gain any new followers…he has a base that isn’t going anywhere. He just needs to weaken the Democrats so they lose 7-10 million voters…which is what I am saying will happen. He has the perfect target because Millennial and four new years of Gen Z voters are not excited about voting for Biden again. Meaning a huge drop off in Dem voters. When will Democrats learn that every time we doubt Trump, when we get lazy about him…he wins. It’s exactly what happened in 2016. People thought Hillary had Ohio, PA, and Michigan in the bag and he came in and swooped the rust belt because they just assumed Trump couldn’t win them. Dumb! We cannot win with Biden in 2024. Gagaloo911 12,959
Dems secured their purse and now they're going to pay for the consequences! I'm frankly disillusioned by the entire party and thus the system. And I'm someone who previously would have tried to defend the Democratic party. Not anymore under its current leadership and decisionmaking. Leave it to the Democratic party to fvck everything up when they have the ball and ability to actually do something, but too afraid of doing anything about it because they (secretly) benefit from the status quo. President Biden 5,898
Gas prices are rapidly falling, the supply chain is opening up, and unemployment is at a 50 year low. 4 more years is coming, suck it a Biden Boom is building and it will come just in time for 2022. ssslyboy 3,273
Actually, the only way a Republican won’t win is if Donald Trump runs. If he runs, welcome President Buttigieg.
HardlyaSaint 727
He’s definitely going to win. People typically like to run back to what’s familiar to them (as a sort of “system restore” phenomenon) especially when they’re leaving one toxic circumstance and jumping into another even more toxic one. Biden has debuted all the pay offs that Trump set up about the democratic image and its really fallen under itself this year more than any other year. He’s strategic and knows exactly what’s he’s doing. Biden is being used as a scapegoat on top of already being an incompetent politician. This is a big game of chess. We all know what’s coming.
