Austria makes COVID vaccine mandatory, to impose fines on the unvaccinated

Austria’s conservative-led government has announced details of its plan to make coronavirus vaccines compulsory, saying it will apply to people aged 14 and above, and holdouts face fines of up to 3,600 euros ($4,071) every three months.

About 68 percent of Austria’s population is fully vaccinated against COVID-19, one of the lowest rates in Western Europe. Many Austrians are sceptical about vaccines, a view encouraged by the far-right Freedom Party, the third-biggest in parliament.

As infections set records three weeks ago, the government announced a fourth national lockdown and said it would make vaccinations compulsory for all, the first European Union country to do so.

I think if they are completely mandatory like u have absolutely no choice the Government should have a compensation program in place for the very rare terrible reactions that occur

 

I know id he pissed if i was forced to put something in my body i ended up reacting bad to, got disabled for life then was left on my own

 

I think ppl should be strongly encouraged even pressured with measures such as lockdowns remaining in effect for the unvaccinated that are the highest risk...

 

Dunno how i feel about an outright force... i know some will use the argument some other vaccies are mandatory and technically yes but they are generally given in infancy and childhood where u dont get to make full if any medical decisions on ur own anyway which is different imo

A huge overstep and dangerous precedent to set. I'm fine with excluding the un-vaxxed from things like restaurants and entertainment venues, but this is too far. Alas, those who have developed a fetish for government mandates as a result of the pandemic will no doubt cheer this as a revolutionary step.

Of course medical contraindication is exception.

I don’t know what the situation is in Canada, but most European countries have advanced disability and social systems, unlike the US. In contrast, the amount of compensation available in health lawsuits is not as horrible.

I think the best idea would be to increase the health insurance rates for people who could get vaxxed but refuse to do so. (And not just a lil bit but rather increase them a lot because all those anti-vaxxers cost all of us a lot of money)

Good. Make those who can get vaccinated, vaccinated. Those who can’t get vaccinated should be given some sort of compensation tho, like either increased health insurance coverage, or maybe even monetary compensation?

 Oh, and those who can but refuse to, yeah make them pay a huge fine.

I'm vaccinated and will get the 3rd vaccine if needed, but this should go against the law. You are taking away someone's choice. By that logic let's ban abortions (something that i am strongly opposed to) just to be clear
