Critical consensus is shifting on Gaga's Oscar chances?

Yeah no way gaga will win, HOG is just ok and gaga is only 1/3 of it.

Spencer is literally Kristens movie.

Olivia Coleman won the Favorite and she wasn't the only focus either. I think with this year, however, there are numerous strong contenders so it won't be a very clear path till the Oscars - which is what we originally thought it to be.

I just want to lock that nomination

Same, two Oscar Best Actress nominations coming from the music industry… in only few years — so impressive already.

Moonlight on Water

Spencer is really good, just unfortunate that it didn't cover the life of Diana.

House of Gucci is good, has editing errors and the writing is a little iffy. Gaga is fantastic in it though

I'm gay for both, and I love both and both movies, so I'm rooting for both :vegas:

It’s unlikely for her to win but she’s pretty much a near lock for a nomination I would say. It’ll be interesting to see if Kristen’s front runner status holds for the rest of the season given that there’s so long to go

If Gaga was only 1/3 in it, she would be in supporting. This doesn't make sense.

In my opinion, I don’t think the academy would give the award to a pop mega star who is only on her second movie. They’re quite pretentious.

I don't know what BAFTA will do with Gucci, but Stewart absolutely does NOT have an edge there lmao. Quite the opposite actually. How anyone thought Spencer would be well-received in the UK is beyond me.

They literally gave a nomination to Yalitza Aparicio who never acted before (we don't even know if she would ever act again).

They have given child actors nominations before.

Their voting patterns are also quite unpredictable nowadays. They have made a lot of progress by giving quite some recognition to Asian directors and actors.

Cher won for her second role, and she's a musician. Even if Cher had not set a precedent, times are always changing and there will always be new precedents. It's not everyday you see a Lady Gaga that's so effective in transforming herself in whatever she does. Like sure, there are musicians who are interested in acting, but no one really transform themselves so radically in the way Gaga does...

I haven't been following this story tbh, but apart from the royalty, how did the public react?

I only just finished seeing it an hour ago and I'm interested what sort of editing errors? I saw this mentioned a few times on here so I was on the lookout during the movie

Well yeah not literally but the movie kinda drops her and forgets about gaga in the second act.
I wish gaga demanded a re-writte… 😩

Ohhhh the way i got dragged on Twitter by Colman fans after I said that she ain’t the main girl in that movie and the supporting actress should’ve been the lead 💀💀💀

I don’t get these award nom titles anyways

Isn't that good news for Gaga supporters?

It is harder to sustain a "sure win" narrative for that long. Gaga had this narrative with A Star Is Born for a few months and then quickly lost momentum during New Year.

Gaga was absolutely never for a split second a sure win for that year. It was always about her being a possible contender to snatch Glenn’s win.
