Pretty much what Cattrall wanted all along. And, after 20 years of withholding that, I'm betting that was done to spite Kim.

Meat 18,962
The last episode was so good. Seema is such a good character
gagzus 14,472
just caught myself up on the the last episode, I'm really enjoying how serious and "woke" the new season is so far it feels very realistic in my eyes. Good points; Spoiler bringing back Carries apartment permanently is a great addition (especially now you can stay in a 2021 replica of it on AirBnB), giving Charlotte a less conservative feel by expanding her horizons and having a fully realised friendship with a down to earth PoC feels wonderful. In fact; having them ALL have new friendships outside one another feels great and diversifies the group and breaks away from Sex & The City. Now for the down sides; Spoiler the handling of Stanford feels very off kilter, I know after Big's death they probably didn't want to write him out with a death but that would've felt more realistic because when you're older, deaths amongst people you know happen more and more often. I don't believe him running away to Tokyo and suddenly wanting a divorce, it feels out of character. AND it makes me feel sad they're obviously using Seema (although a brilliant new character) as a Samantha replacement, for example that conversation about Carrie and Big vs Seema "at least you had a few wonderful years with the man of your dreams" and "you're STILL putting yourself out there" felt very much like a conversation Carrie would've had with Samantha at this point in there lives. Still holding out hope Kim comes back for a future season. Imagine the cliffhanger of an episode in the future concluding a season with Kim appearing and Carrie's narration saying "And Just Like That... Samantha came home" I'm also randomly starting to miss Carrie's narration that happened a lot in SATC, and a proper intro to the episodes.

hpmcmill 1,928
I really like how they juggle traditional rich Democratic ladies and modern more “woke” times — I think they’ve explored that very well and tastefully.

Like, someone out there actually moms of Gen Z children with issues that Miranda and Charlotte are experiencing. You can stay in bubble of the past, if you like. But not every shows that are using progressive elements are bad or pandering. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ 𝒬𝓊𝑒𝑒𝓃 𝓃𝑒𝓋𝑒𝓇 𝒸𝓇𝓎 (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡

Well this one is,,, and I am watching it with a group of my friends and we all agree mostly on how bad this show is due to this elements… and to be clear I do not have any issues with anything…
bionic 42,067
I'm white person in a primarily white area and know a lot of other white people (particularly those who are middle class upward) who have the exact same 'problem' as Charlotte about behaving kinda problematically to try and avoid appearing racist. I have heard many times "[black person] will be coming to the party so I got some [stereotypical food/drink] in... because you know... they like it". A sad side effect of centuries of institutional racism. I don't find it woke or SJW at all...I don't really remember how racism was handled in the original series so can't compare it to that. I think Charlotte learned a valuable lesson tho which is really the only way to handle these situations RE: her trans daughter (son? non-binary? i can't remember sorry please correct me ) isn't really an issue a lot of parents will face but is important. At work recently one of the ladies complained about the infamous 'woke awareness training' that is a big thing these days...she said her kids will be so confused about gender identity growing up. i told her that she doesn't need to understand it herself- she just needs to be supportive and put effort into trying to understand what happens if it comes up. hopefully this show will do a better job than i did miranda's alcoholism could be dealt with in a better way. a LOT of people have that post-work alcohol or whatever and its treated very casually... but in reality its a dependency. charlotte finding all the empties in miranda's bag felt a bit too unsubtle and it was just an easy way for viewers to quantify charlotte realizing miranda's drinking problem (all the other references to her drinking a lot are too subtle... as carrie seems to think) the only thing i'm really not a fan of is miranda's sex-obsessed son...first of all he's a minor in the show so its weird they're showing semi-graphic sex scenes...and it seems to be being plyaed for laughs rather than having any real message so far buy bionic
bionic 42,067
RE: Samantha and Kim Cattrall She got the script for the prospective third movie. She wasn't a fan and peaced out. Charlotte is also the PERFECT character in the show to have a trans/non-binary child because of the efforts it took her to have children (also like Kristin Davis irl) in the first place, and it's showing how love and support is challenged and how a parents love for their children comes first. As for the alcoholism, as a formerly alcohol dependent person with a former alcoholic parent, it's definitely hard to show alcoholism and dependency in TV without showing excessive bottles or a consistently drunk and disorderly character but as I can say it's not always that easy irl. But it's hard in TV to show true alcohol problems properly. And i concur, it feels like they're trying to keep the sex elements from the original series without Samantha as she would've probably been the only character still actively having casual sex in her 60s in the show. Yeah you're right, the post should've been past tense. She was willing to come back for movie 3 if not for the bad script, and would've been open to the TV show if the script was good (she has said this herself)– but I guess now SJP had her power trip we'll never see Sam again buy bionic
