The very small crew she had working on this shoot was made up of her close friends, and some of them are already part of her day to day glam, so they likely did get paid and she's just being Madonna and embellishing for the sake of making a point about ~the artist's struggle~

I have to assume she's on this "starving artist" kick again. Like, we get it, that was they way things were in her early days, but it's 2021; no one is literally wanting to work for me anymore. Hell, even I would expect from Gaga and I literally live and breathe the air and earth she walks

Meh, I don't think it's that dire. The "old" Madonna we all love was out in full force during the Madame X era. She's just going through this phase where she's being unapologetic about the stuff she says. And, while I admire that, it often backfires like this comment and her asinine comment about covid being a great equalizer

She’s literally enslaving people  I mean it doesn’t get much worse than that in my book, especially coming from someone as rich as her. I’ll still always respect her unmatched legacy and she’s definitely earned everything she worked for, but so much of what she’s doing recently makes me uncomfortable.

I mean was that photoshoot even necessary? She used to be a mastermind but lately she's not that creative ngl.
