RAMROD 117,007
Beto O’Rourke is running for governor of Texas in 2022, in a challenge to incumbent Governor Greg Abbott. The Democrat announced his run in an interview with Texas Monthly published today and updated his website. The 49-year-old former congressman lost to Ted Cruz when running for senate in 2018 and was a candidate for the 2020 presidential election before dropping out in November 2019. No Democrat has won statewide office in Texas since 1992. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-11-15/beto-o-rourke-announces-run-for-texas-governor-in-2022 I'll choose him any day than that undesirable white devil, Greg Robott. Hope Beto have a chance this time (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ✧*:・゚ ᶠʳᵒⁿᵗ ᵗᵒʷᵃʳᵈ ᵉⁿᵉᵐʸ (*´艸`*) ♡♡♡

Petie Estie 5,704
Before everyone takes a dump on him for his guns line at the debate...he's right. IDC if it was a "bad strategic move" -- just admit that he's right. We have to take some guns away if we really want to solve gun violence. But that issue is going to be his hardest thing for him to overcome. I work with a few nice people from Texas, they're slightly conservative liberals. But they're just CRAZY about their guns. I mean crazy, you'll never get them to be rational about this issue. Never ever ever. I think he can overcome it, but to win Texas I think it's a political reality he just needs to be really smart and calculating about this issue. Morphine Prince 109,649
I do not see him winning. Especially next year when the Democrats will be slaughtered.
bionic 50,111
Beto will never win in Texas after his gun comments. Good luck tho!

HorusRa2 5,005
The dem party can keep him. Also, this is going to be a wasted millions and millions of dollars for a vanity project. He's also not all that great on policy either. Regardless if you agree with me politically, you would be better served to focus on helping someone else actually win. I really don't recommend anyone putting energy, money or time into this campaign.

Idk maybe it does matter that Dems are about to waste time, money and energy with one of the most anti-gun politicians rn with one of the most pro-gun states ever. Especially in a year with a depressed Dem base thanks to the right wing of the Dem party. Also please explain taking guns away is going to work - it doesn’t seem feasible
Nemo 4,410
"On Election Day [2018], Cruz defeated O'Rourke by a margin of 50.9 to 48.3 percent; the race was the closest U.S. Senate race in Texas since 1978." -- Wikipedia For those saying he can't win... this is how close he came to winning the Senate race. Same electorate, maybe even a little bluer this time.

I hope for better but lbr it’s really not as likely this time around plus if the party chose him I have my doubts since they’re terrible at picking candidates lmao

It's up to individuals and him begging donors until then. It's fine. He can run. There are more guns than people in America. That's our gun problem. If we don't get that number down, it doesn't solve anything. Buybacks work. Call your therapist...it's Petie Estie
