The remnants of DNA may lurk in 125 million-year-old dinosaur fossils found in China. If the microscopic structures are indeed DNA, they would be the oldest recorded preservation of chromosome material in a vertebrate fossil.

Researchers have reported possible cell nucleus structures in fossils of plants and algae dating back millions of years. These claims are often controversial, because it can be hard to distinguish a fossilized nucleus from a random blob of mineralization created during the fossilization process.

For the study, the researchers turned to a well-preserved specimen of Caudipteryx held by the Shandong Tianyu Museum of Nature in China. Originally discovered in the northeastern province of Liaoning, the fossil has ample preserved cartilage, which the researchers stained with the same dyes used to image DNA in modern tissue.

These dyes bind to DNA and turn it a specific color, depending on the dye, allowing the DNA to stand out against the rest of the nucleus.

By examining the stained, fossilized cartilage with several microscopy methods, Bailleul and her team showed that the cartilage cells contain structures that look just like nuclei with a scramble of chromatin inside.

"I hope we can reconstruct a sequence, someday, somehow," Bailleul said. "Let's see: I could be wrong, but I could also be right."

I know this sounds ignorant, but its so hard to imagine so much life on this very earth ages ago. It's really fascinating.

The majority of living things on the planet are dead. We're just dead animals that haven't died yet.

Everything is temporary in life which is weird. It's cyclical, almost like seasons in a tv show. The universe gets bored seeing the same things, it loved drama with dinosaurs, then was like u know what, im over it, they are too big make too much noise let's create another drama, oh the homos, homo erectus, sapiens, neanderthal etc let's make them hate each other, oh yeah i like it, it's fun, wow they're evolving, oh okay they're creating planes? bruh insane, now bombs??? ok we gonna let them do their thing

Anticipation Popcorn GIF

then they'll get bored of that, and create a bacteria or something so we all die and we become extinct, and then something else comes along and it has drama too. The universe loves drama, they don't like peace or tranquility, i think it's truly a lie to think the universe loves peace, I think the universe wants to see war, blood, pain and then see the other side of it, beauty, peace, happiness, but not just one thing, because else this all was created for nothing. This planet and galaxy is meant for entertainment for something bigger than us. I just know it, it's so obvious to me now. Dinosaurs were full of drama, full of it, it's straight out of a sci-fi movie

I love this thought process. Imagine LG went through the same process when she created Chromatica, though much simpler: Planet created --> forgets about it. (jk)
