Making a woman have your surname instead of hers... retrograde and sexist to say the least :triggered::triggered::triggered:

No one was talking about making a woman do anything.

A lot of women, perhaps Taylor's fiance included, want to take their husband's surname. Their choice is not sexist or retrograde. Implying that their husband "made" the choice for them? That is sexist.

When it comes to marriage and relationships, the less judgment you pass about the way people choose to live, the better. In my opinion. :vegas:

It's not only men that are sexist, you know. Many women have been brainwashed by the patriarchy to do what's expected of them. But hey, let's just think changing her surname is what she wanted and what she wanted only

Calling a woman brainwashed for practicing the agency she has to choose her own name is sexist.

A woman can be a feminist who understands the history of marriage being a tool used to oppress women, and still choose to use their husband's surname.

Passing judgment on women who choose to take their husband's surname is as shitty as passing judgment on women who choose not to.

But at the same time, choosing to change your last name is ok.  I do agree with you, though.  In Quebec where I live women keep their name (even reverting back to it if you move from another place).  It requires a deliberate name change if you really want to have your last name the same as your husband, and I agree with it and likeit.

I think it's fine either way as long as there isn't any pressure to do so. I didn't change my name when I got married only out of pure laziness :vegas: It is a PROCESS

It's not about what I think. It's not about what you think.

It's about respecting and not judging women's choices.

I won't judge Melania Trump's choices, then

I was in a relationship with a girl once and I expressed the idea of if ever getting married, I would be totally cool with changing my last name to hers. She had a coool af last name and my name would have sounded so much better with her last name. She was completely against that idea.
