Now that I remember, I really encourage the GGD team to bring back the "Excuse me no" reaction.

For me, paws down are not unnecessary. Facebook doesn't have this feature, but they wanted to introduce it, and luckily it didn't. :partysick:

Though the most annoying thing about YouTube is the ads. They are too much of it, and not everyone can afford premium. I only use YT Vanced and have no ads. :neyde:

Does the dislike count influence Youtube's algorithm? Like if your video gets a lot of dislikes it won't show up in people's recommended?

It will show up more in people's recommended if it gets a lot of dislikes.

I find the existence of the dislike button really useful, sometimes you immediately know if a video is worth watching it or not. Of course there will unfortunately always be trolls.

I once made a comment under a youtube video and asked why Youtube doesn't get rid off the button, because in my opinion it doesn't have any function - instead I think it adds extra negativity and hate.

I got a lot of likes on that post but also quite some backlash in the comments and people were like: "It's an opinion and valid to express your dislike of things bla bla". I get that. It's ok to have an opinion and you don't have to like everything, but why should I express that if I haven't been asked directly? I'm sure most creators would disable this function if they could.

I have never in my life "disliked" a video on Youtube. I simply "like" the ones I actually enjoy and stop watching the ones I don't like.

So I personally still find this button to be absolutely unnecessary. If you don't like a video, just stop watching it and move on.

I'm pretty sure it's because of the algorithm. Whenever you dislike a video, youtube becomes less likely to show you videos similar to that one.

nah... it can also work like the algorithm on Insta or tiktok - you cannot express your dislike on there. If you like a video or watch the whole thing, the algorithm knows that you like it. If you just watch a few seconds and move on, they know you don't like it and they'll show u less of that and show more of what you actually like. No need for a "dislike" button

Why not just get rid of it entirely?

I think the data is relevant and helpful to youtube and creators, but when it shows it often is used as away to attack people.

Example:  Madonna fans disliking for a Lady Gaga video or vice versa.  If they don't get the rush of seeing the huge number they're less likely to do it and also won't be able to gloat about results on social media.

This is about shielding the elites and corporations from criticism IMO.

It’s probably their lobbying that has resulted in this.
