The dislike button will remain on videos but the count will only be available to the video’s poster, YouTube said Wednesday.

It hopes the change will deter so-called “dislike attacks,” in which viewers intentionally drive up the amount of negative votes a video has.

The “thumbs up” button and count will remain visible.

I agree with people saying to just remove it tbh. But maybe there's some benefit for content creators to know which of their videos get disliked more.

Does the dislike count influence Youtube's algorithm? Like if your video gets a lot of dislikes it won't show up in people's recommended?

Anyway, seems a bit pointless to me, if they want Youtubers not to get their fee-fees hurts they should just remove it altogether :laughga:

Seems silly to just hide it. Why not just remove it?

It might be a valuable feedback for posters to see what their audience don’t like strongly
