First child skull of Homo naledi unveiled

An international team of researchers, led by Professor Lee Berger from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa (Wits University) has revealed the first partial skull of a Homo naledi child that was found in the remote depths of the Rising Star cave in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Researchers found 28 pieces of an orange-size skull and six teeth, which belonged to a small child who lived 240,000 to 335,000 years ago, they report this week in PaleoAnthropology. Describing the skull and its context in two separate papers in the Open Access journal, PaleoAnthropology, the team of 21 researchers from Wits University and thirteen other universities announced the discovery of parts of the skull and teeth of the child that died almost 250,000 years ago when it was approximately four to six years old. That location—and the lack of evidence that it was moved by animals or washed into the cave by water—suggests it was buried there by other members of H. naledi, the authors write; that idea is controversial.

I'm a few weeks late but I'm just seeing this reply now. 

The 'skull' in the OP is a reconstruction. Made by researchers, of course, so most likely anatomically correct to a large degree but it didn't look naturally like this (sadly, because the golden-black combo looks cool).
