ABBA is releasing new music while humanity is held hostage by a virus the second year in a row. Imagine telling this someone from 2018:green:

Ew, David!

The Fame Monster

I am praying for the Gay Gods that there will be at least one banger, aka Lay All Your Love for Me 2.0.

Lona Delery

my review after listening to it once ~

Spoiler

I Still Have Faith In You
very melodramatic in a way, its a cute song but not my favorite i guess, they have better ballads than ISHFIY

When You Danced With Me
whewwww the opening synths

the song is kind of giving me medieval folk song, im feeling very Irish/Scottish or smth listening to this

Little Things
this is a christmas song??? what, i wasnt prepared for that

ngl i kinda dislike christmas songs cuz you cant really listen to them 10 out of 12 months a year.

also, i ****ing hate the childrens choir at the end yikes

Dont Shut Me Down
a BOPPPPP abba at their best lbr, one of my favorite songs by them. we all know it, it is great

Just a Notion
this is sooo fun i love it

its obviously an old song and you can tell by the vocals but this is giving me doo-wop vibes and i love it a lot

I Can Be That Woman
Very retro 80s ballad kind of vibes, im digging it. is this about domestic violence? i have only listened once yet and it sounds like its about abuse. Beautiful song

Keep an Eye on Dan
the production on this is so trippy, its kind of giving me The Day Before You Came / The Visitors vibes idk why?

whewwww the synth break im living. the entire song is so dramatic :gaycat:

Bumblebee
at first i thought this might be a re-release of Free As A Bumble Bee but ist not
the flutes in the beginning are so cute awww

the lyrics are so laid back and chill, kinda juxtaposed to the production? a choice me thinks but ist a pretty song

No Doubt About It
the lyrics are a bit uhmmm but the song is a bop, this is roadtrip playlist material me thinks

Ode to Freedom
kind of like the opener, it is veryyy melodramatic in ist production with the strings but i prefer them actually

i also like that they said no to streaming trends and the instrumental intro goes on for almost a minute
very cinematic, i could see this playing in a fantasy movie or something tbh

and my personal ranking

Spoiler

1) Dont Shut Me Down
2) Just A Notion
3) I Can Be That Woman
4) Ode to Freedom
5) No Doubt About It
6) Keep an Eye on Dan
7) Bumblebee
8) I Still Have Faith In You
9) When You Danced With Me
10) Little Things

Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride

Review:

Spoiler

ISHFIY:

Love it. Always makes me cry and the lyrics are so beautiful.

When You Danced with Me:

Is this about Agnetha??? anyways I love it.

Little Things:

great gowns beautiful gowns

Don't Shut Me Down:

You can tell this one along with ISHFIY were the original two songs from the project, since their lyrics releate so much and both have good production. One of my faves and really stands out.

Just a Notion:

I was so used to Arrival arragment that I disliked ABBA's version when it was released, but now I love it. A nice throwback to their very first productions.

I Can Be That Woman:

Kinda reminds me to Slipping Through My Fingers, it's a good song.

Keep An Eye On Dan:

girl-dancing.gif

Keep an eye on Dan promise me you can he gets out the hand if you let him

its so dramatic i love it and those final notes from sos omg

Bumblebee:

Fernando meets The Way old Friends Do or something like that. I want to like this song 'cause I really love Frida but it needs so grow on me.

No Doubt About It:

I was kinda excited for this 'cause I remember some early review said it was kinda disco-ish but its not at all but I still like this song, Frida sounds really good and it kinda reminds me to Elaine, classic ABBA.

Ode to Freedom:

This one sounds like classic B&B production and is a good way to end the album.

Its a good album, not their best work but I love how it feels like an ABBA album and they are not trying to recreate old songs or modern sounds (like Dianna Ross If The World Just Danced kind of thing with the generic dance music), they are just being themself and it feels really natural. A good way to retire from music (at least for the girl).
