Uh oh guys, the Madge police are here to say we can't criticize her because she's a woman who evidently invented pop culture, and the world will end if we do. :billie:

And btw let's pretend Madonna didn't rip off countless ideas and people before her for her own benefit and invented all of it on her own. :huntyga:

You sound more worked up than any Madonna fan in this thread. :billie:

You Madonna haters in this place care so much about her that everytime there’s a Madonna thread, it ends up being the most popular thread of the day.

The issue is that Madonna is talking about challenging the status quo but she's not actually doing anything. She is talking about her supposed role as an artist, but she is not actually contributing anything of value to the conversation. She is taking up for anti vaxxers and the right to question the government. Cool. Now what? How is being controversial for the sake of it making anything less polarized? How is she changing any conservative or liberal minds or bridging the gap? The problem with Madonna is that she is solely preoccupied with her own ego and how SHE, the ARTIST, can play by different rules, and has a higher calling and more important role in society than the common person.

I would like to see her do the things she's talking about. But they are hollow words. Getting peoples' attention by saying or doing something against the grain is not gonna cut it Madonna. Once you have the attention, what do you really have to say?

She has done plenty through her philanthropy, always standing with those who need it most, so your long essay comes simply from a place of lack of knowledge.

She’s not someone who simply does the talk; she has always walked the walk from day one at risk of costing her her own career.

I'm talking about this situation. :)

Is she standing with those who need it most, people who have lost loved ones to COVID, are in hospital beds connected to ventilators, exhausted medical care professionals, by giving credence to anti-vax propaganda? Simply to "disturb the status quo"?

Actually, it wasn't that hard. She didn't hit the stage for my Madame X Tour until 11pm, we left the theatre right around 1:30 am :air:

You remind me that it's such a wonderful thing to love.

Wow. This thread got nasty so fast.

Madonna is simply saying that in today's age, we need to have dialogue with those we disagree with and see there perspective if we can. If you understand where they are coming from, you can help them change their ways to a better degree.

She isn't saying she is anti-vax or anti-union.

The scary thing is that just the idea of Madonna questioning cancel culture has brought out her haters to tear her down.

It must suck to be so close minded and ignorant that you can not have a human conversation with someone who is racist, homophobic, Trump-supporter, anti-vax, etc. Although I disagree with these people, I still talk to some of them in my social circle and I have even changed their opinion through respectful dialogue. Cancelling these people does nothing and some of them are good people, but with flaws. And who doesn't have flaws?

Other pop stars have done this thing where they try to unite people on both sides, trying to create a peaceful conciliation is one thing. She's straight up carrying water for anti union and antivax. We don't need devils advocate for those things which are wrong, not in this climate.

Lmao they blocked my signature

Well obviously they're not that dedicated to the craft if they're not willing to work 8 hours at night  :ohwell:

What is the difference between 9 to 5 and 4 to midnight? Give me a break.

Sounds like you don't know how unions work. Fun!

Clearly have no idea how stringent union policy is and would rather throw average working artists under the bus to defend an entitled multimillionaire.

You're saying theatre workers aren't dedicated when Madonna can't even show up on time ☠️

As I mentioned previously, I've been a member of 2 different unions. I'm aware of how they work and both benefit and hamper workers.

So why are you accusing the actual *workers* of not being dedicated when you know that they have to adhere to union policy?

The union thing resolved itself perfectly. The union members, because they were union members, were able to say to Madonna, if you want us to work hours that we're not contracted to work you have to pay. So she paid. The union members were satisfied because they got compensated for the disruption to their lives caused by having to work late, and Madonna was satisfied because she got her rehearsals at a price that she considered to be worth it.

Exactly, so idk why everyone is acting like she is anti union :smh: She obviously had to bargain with them in order to get what she desired, just like any normal "business."
