If it wasn’t a huge choreographed track with a backing etc yes probably :billie: I did it last year lol (obviously wasn’t a fan since I’m not famous but you get the idea)

I was hoping Metallica and Gaga would have started over when James Hetfield's mike didn't work.  But that was at the Grammys so maybe there wasn't time to start over.  At least the video of the dress rehearsal is out there to enjoy.

i strongly disagree, that performance is amazing as it is, with its imperfections and james's mic being off, it gives me that invaluable feeling of live music when things don't go as it is supposed to and musicians manage to improvise and end up giving something new, irreplicable and amazing, the fury, adrenaline and the key change in the end chorus weren't supposed to be there aither, that's not in the rehearsal at all, and it was f*cking epic, the song is a critique to pop culture and fame and they performed in a pop culture medium, they ended up sharing the mic more and the chemistry was electrifying, and then james kicking off the mic and throwing his guitar while gaga's on her knees in the end was the cherry on top. it's truly the show must go on essence, only pro performers manage to pull that off  and a few others to do it brilliantly and transform it into something else, and they did it.

I personally hate when performers start over again, it takes you off the magic of the performance, and it stains the delivery of the performance as whole, a giant turn off for me.

You make a good point.  Thanks for posting.  I watched the live Grammy performance again and see what you are saying.  I think both the live and the dress rehearsal performances can be enjoyed for their own merits.  I still prefer the dress rehearsal performance because James was so upset in the live performance and I don't like him to be upset.  The Grammies is one of those chances to show your greatness to a general audience.  We know that Metallica is very professional, but the general audience doesn't follow metal and just sees a big mishap which makes them look unpolished.  I felt badly for James.  Yes, we can appreciate the live performance for all the reasons you mention, but most people won't.   I will enjoy both performances from now on.
