SEANGT 4,909
I'm really not super shocked that the director of "Nomadland" wasn't able to make a good marvel movie. Idk what they expected lol.

Watchmen, X2, Days of Future Past, and even movies like Deadpool add things to the genre to keep it fresh, but the MCU rarely takes big swings or makes anything that deviates from the formula in any major way. No gay characters, sex scenes, or anything too risky. You can make an argument of inclusivity, sure. But that doesn't take away from the content of the movie one way or the other. That's more of a social/societal commentary rather than anything to do with the plot. As for having sex scenes...like the inclusion of such doesn't add anything to a comic book movie? I just think you're expecting Marvel to be something that it isn't. What you've seen in the last 26 movies is what Marvel is. It's not going to deviate. And honestly, based off of the money made, what motivation do they have to change it? Gotta put on the business hat on for a second and ask yourself why break what's not broken. Marvel should want to challenge themselves creatively and produce the best films possible, and audiences should want to be challenged creatively as well. Titanic, Avatar, Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones have similar DNA, but are different enough to be original. Marvel blockbusters should continue to challenge and change (as it seems they have done with Eternals) to continue their franchise.

I'm just pointing out that the people at the head of marvel have no real incentive to change anything when they gobble up the domestic and worldwide box office with the formula they have now. I'm not suggesting that is the absolute best thing but I am pointing out as to why we haven't seen any changes. That said, I'm quite happy with the output from Marvel. Some are better than others but I find them to be enjoyable.
Wixson 4,926
I think they set themselves up with this one. The hype machine's been working on it overtime months before Chloé won Best Director and all the behind the scenes: "it's the greatest thing Marvel's done" "Marvel's so confident with Eternals" talk didn't help either. I know nothing about these superhero universes but I was excited for this one because of Zhao, Angelina, Salma & Barry Keoghan. Will still check it out. James Gibson 3,438
Considered critics raved so many horrible Marvel movies, then this getting a mixed reaction for being different from the studio vibe should be a huge compliment

Nothing new, nothing changes, same old sht. I guess it's time for people to stop supporting this kind of movie. And the critics should be the first to let MCU die. I love Angelina Jolie tho and I'm willing to watch this mess because of her. This comment is…pointless? If you don’t like something, move on. You clearly are not a comic book/marvel fan so you have no clue. Every movie in the MCU is linked or builds up for another one, no same plot whatsoever. Why do you advice people not watching it anymore? You can have your opinion but why do you say you want it to die? There are tens of millions of MCU fans all around the world who loves this universe. The movie industry is diverse and so are tastes. You are not the center of the world sweety SwissMonster®️ - Creating controversy since 1999

Cameltoe Chariot 14,293
I'm so bored with the MCU and I've barely watched any of them outside of The Avengers movies, Wandavision, Black Widow and Captain Marvel... I think I saw a couple of Thor movies too but they all blur together and have the exact same plot beats. Like the stories technically vary but the way it unfolds is the same EVERY TIME. The only thing in the MCU that felt truly innovative and original was Wandavision. Sad that it's a one-off.

I'm so bored with the formula now that I can't bring myself to finish the rest of them. And some of the ones I DID watch were so boring or overloaded with CGI sequences that I kept losing track of the story. Does that make more sense?
