It's not a great comeback song, but it's a great song.

My thoughts exactly. I need to listen a few more times, because it’s definitely a pretty song - kinda nostalgic, a bit melancholic, and her vocals are on point. It just feels a bit off as her first single back in 6 years. But I do kinda wonder, based on descriptions of what the rest of the album sounds like, if they chose this as the lead BECAUSE it’s so in line with her trademark sound. Perhaps 2nd single will be the switchup people seem to be wanting?

The video is very very beautiful, the song is beautiful too, won't relisten to it just because it's not my favorite but it's good stuff overall

I'm wondering why the song hasn't hit #1 yet on US AM, isn't she always bigger than anyone else there?

but it’s night right now in usa, no?

The thing is she knows what she’s doing. There is definitely a formula to how she does her roll outs, it’s not so much let’s just do what’s safe but she makes sure that whatever she does is aesthetically pleasing for autumnal months. Hello had the exact same treatment, a emotional ballad with autumnal imagery in the video - it all translates quite beautifully when you’re out in the world listening to the songs and that is her intention

Not the bore worms!

Yeah, but it seems strange to me 'cause big acts like her usually reach #1 on AM very quickly

I love it, sounds like something from 19 which I don’t mind. Here’s the thing, yes there’s an expectation towards artists to renew their image, sound and what not from time to time but if this is really what’s coming from her heart genuinely then we can feel it, I think this is the case now.

Sometimes it’s more important to have artistic integrity in the work rather than having the urge to show something new which might not fit very well. Of course the two are not incompatible in general but I hope you guys know what I mean.

 Adele just being.. Adele.

Nothing new. I've heard that before, and I've seen that before If I got to be honest.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

I know it's a love/breakup song, but the music video where she's driving past all the younger people living their best lives and being happy, while she's kind of just driving solemnly, having past those years of her life, is exactly how I feel sometimes :smh:

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.
