I mean, fashion is a hypocritical industry so I’m not bothered by the demonstration.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

I’m all for protests and demonstrations but stuff like this overshadows the message they want to convey. Shouldn’t they be crashing the H&M’s and Forever 21’s for their “fast fashion” instead?

Unless these activists are wearing stuff they made from their own eco friendly textiles, aren’t they contributing an ounce to overconsumption? the-devil-wears-prada-meryl-streep.gif

The fashion industry is unsustainable as it is if we want to save the planet. Fashion is driven by consumerism and prides itself in changing season by season. It used to be Fall/Winter & Spring summer; but now there is resort, back to school, etc. Contact pressure to produce, produce, produce and consume, consume, consume. Fashion needs to evolve and we should see it a a tool not a trend. Invest in better quality product that last longer does not follow trends and therefore doesn't run out of style

Buying second hand/thrifted clothing is a step forward and protesting at a big event gets more press coverage than a random gathering at H&M. I'm not there yet myself but I think their mission is right.

Everything is a trend though. Technology, memes, music, crypto, etc. The thing about fashion is though that everything comes back. So if consumers just hung onto clothes  or found a way to recycle/reuse them sustainably we'd be in a better position ecologically.

i am so glad to read this replies here because, as Gaga fans, some of us tend to give a free pass to the fashion industry because our queen is super into fashion and is a very important aspect of her career.

I am happy we are not turning a blind eye on this and we are applauding people that is trying to bring it some awareness, like this activist.

You're right but we treat them very differently and that's why we should think about clothing differently.

Imagine treating your jeans like an iPhone. Yes, Jeans prices would be more expensive, but people would only buy a pair every couple of years. People would buy phones based on trend of course but when the cycle is so short like the Fashion cycle, it is not sustainable.

Not to even mention that it is way cheaper to produce clothing and thus the bigger environmental impact than any other non-oil industry

sis is really barking on the wrong tree. Go to H&M, Zara, Forever 21 & Shein, protest there. 🤡 These designer companies don’t even produce as much as they do 🤡🤡🤡🤡
