Lady Gaga is not just a popstar, it's a jazz singer, an actress, an Oscar winner. People used to see her as just the hit maker but she's a global superstar and a very respected one now. I had thought about if she wants to change her stage name or not, and watching Tony call her 'Lady Gaga' and her reaction solidified that she will never change it. I think people hesitate in interviews because Lady Gaga doesn't roll off your tongue the absolute best. Plus she's always pushed authenticity so what would be her legacy if she left Gaga behind and went by Stefani? I think she wants to prove to the world her versatility (not that she needs to) and changing her name and leaving behind her history would be counterproductive. At the end Lady Gaga is going to be known as a legend with a long history of metamorphosis, not just a singer in weird costumes. Ask any person who's been an adult since the beginning of her career.
