House of Gucci Buzz Fading?

It seems after a strong start after the trailer dropped, the award season buzz for House of Gucci, along with Gaga’s performance, is waning. I think a big reason is it has not been a part of the festival circuit, where films like Spencer have been and as a result Kristen Stewart is taking up a lot of the oxygen in the Best Actress race. I still believe Gaga had a great chance to be nominated, however to win she will have to have strong critical backing, pre-cursors and for the film to be received overall well.

On a side note, I saw the trailer in the movie theatre on Friday when I went and saw Eyes of Tammy Faye and damn it looks so awesome on the big screen!

One trailer isn't enough to keep the buzz going until promotion starts, this is normal. The buzz and hype will pick back up once Gaga and the rest of the cast start promoting it properly on TV shows etc.

Rat Boy

I think that's normal - it's a short trailer to spread the word a little.

The campaign just didn't start strong yet. It's different from ASIB cause its not having a festival release. But that's not a bad thing cause they have a different strategy with this. I think starting this month we'll have more news and updates cause the campaign will for sure be massive

BTW, what did you think of Tammy Faye?

It will definitely be interesting to watch it all unfold.

I thought Tammy Faye was overall okay as a movie, but Jessica Chastain was wonderful as Tammy Faye. I really enjoyed her performance. Definitely will be rooting for her and Gaga in the Best Actress race.

I honestly wouldn't think too deeply into it at this point. ASIB had a lot of buzz but the campaign started too early and burned out quick by the time award season came.

I'm hoping gucci having a later fall release will be a positive but it really depends on the film itself and how critics and the audience react to it.

I'm 99.9% sure there will be lots of promo near the actual release.

you can serve it to me ancient city style...

pls ASIB, Gaga and Bradley were predicted to sweep for weeks just for them to be overshadowed by late breakers...

visibility (which is what festivals provide) ain't something it's gonna lack... movie will be seen, more than most movies that already premiered, it's a movie starring Lady Gaga and one of Hollywood's fave (Driver) not some inaccessible indie made by some unknown people

the big promo will probably start late October/early November with interviews and such like I've seen actors do for years!

it will be watched, let's just hope that we'll enjoy it!

Bonkers

i really and truly do not care.  No offense to anybody who does, but Lady Gaga has already won and if she ever wants buzz, or number one albums or big movie premieres, she knows how to do it.

I hope the movie is good, I hope to see her at the award shows having the time of her life but I'm not going to worry about buzz or acclaim or success.

i read on somewhere, that if the movie is GOOD they don't need big marketing plan. its just going to be mouth to mouth conversation (experience based). So if HOG not promoting that big, that means its going to be a good movie? lol

Yeah it's a little weird with it not premiering at any festivals, but I think the hype will come once promo starts

It's kind of strange how many big movies are avoiding the festivals (Licorice Pizza, Nightmare Alley, Gucci, Westside Story, Tick Tick Boom, etc.) Can be indicative of the quality, or it can be that they just weren't finished in time. It does sound like Gucci still isn't fully edited, etc. so at least it isn't missing the festivals because it isn't up to snuff.

It will hupe again during the release.
