connorfilm 7,296
I think the 60 Mins interview can push it to 50-ish. At least it’s going too 10.

Tony isn't much of an album seller, his last album with Diana Krall did 28-31k in the first week. And Gaga's star power is heavily overestimated, she's no Taylor Swift or Adele. She's heading towards Alicia Keys and Kelly Clarkson status, they're beloved music veterans with public recognition and decent-size fan base. This thread is really weird because in one side you have people telling others they are obligated to buy something and in the other side you have people happy that their fave is flopping. Weird behavior. I still think this can snatch a AOTY nomination, the field is so weak this year and they've a lot of promo lined up with thanksgiving special and documentary on paramount plus. Gaga sold 274,000 albums with her last solo record week 1 and has one of the biggest female songs in recent history with shallow. She is def not Alicia Keys or Kelly Klarkcson level 👀. I have read this whole thread. All 12+ ridiculous and annoying pages. I have seen nobody "happy" that this album is "flopping"... Idk where this assertion is coming from, but just because some people are trying to make light of the situation with some lame jokes, that does not mean they are "celebrating" L4S "flopping." Delulu Rogers 7,318
There is literally nobody in this thread that has been “happy” that this album is doing poorly. Ppl like to make up things to fit their own narrative. Idk why ppl are blaming the fans or how they even have the audacity to say others are not true fans. Nobody should have to feel obligated to buy something they don’t like and that doesn’t make them a fake fan. Also, C2C was almost 10 years ago, had a much bigger marketing plan and L4S is still jazz after all. What numbers were ppl expecting? The gp literally has no clue this album is coming out. CaliLilMonster 476
Sales for this album probably favor physical copies, and I'm not sure if as many stores will be carrying the album compared to Cheek to Cheek. Local Target had CD's out but not the Vinyls. Walmart website says the album isn't available in store? Barnes and Noble website shows very few stores have the album in stock, I think like 3/10 near me do. Has anyone bought the album in store from Walmart? Idk where this assertion is coming from, but just because some people are trying to make light of the situation with some lame jokes, that does not mean they are "celebrating" L4S "flopping." This. I'd also say it's not a flop considering the genre, it's an album of covers, and the chart rules. Plus, fans saying "man, I wish someone had bought a copy" isn't exactly saying every fan needs to purchase a copy. Even if people are saying "fans should have bought a copy" (which is a bit silly, as no fan is obligated to buy one)...that's typical stan behavior for any artist and not some horrific comment. Also, lol at the idea that Gaga is on the same level as Kelly Clarkson or Alicia (no shade to them). No, Gaga isn't Taylor or Adele and 95% of fans realize that...but she's still one of the major artists, does far better commercially than Kelly or Alicia, and is easily in the top 10 female artists in the US and top 5 if it's narrowed down to just pop. Just as some fans inflate Gaga's success, others stans really underestimate her. Chromatica did around 275,000 its opening week...Halsey's latest opened just under 100k and Miley's Plastic Harts did around 60k.

Being high on the charts would be icing on the cake, but this isn't why she did it. I'm happy that she's at a place in her career where she can do these kinds of projects that are about more than just selling albums. (Let's face it; a lot of the albums/artists who chart high are not necessarily turning out quality work––some are, but these numbers aren't the end all be all.)
