Watching the Zane Lowe interview I had to shed a little tear, this album is so important and goes so deep for Gaga. Numbers don't change any of that. Get your priorities in check. They showed the system had received the cds, but neither could locate them. I did a location check yesterday and now the copies don't show up at all. I'm pissed because I always get Gaga's cds on the first day since Fame Monster! (Aside from the remix cds). I'm freaking PISSED my streak is broken. Another note, I just listened to a few of the songs, and I kinda also wish they had kept the songs bluesy instead of swing versions, but I'll live. Mother of Puppies 36,460 Posted October 3, 2021 Share Posted October 3, 2021 Wow this thread is a mess All I will say is that this is Jazz and not Pop Music & if some (or even many) little monsters are not into Jazz because it's not their cup of tea they should definitely not feel obligated to spend their hard earned money on it. So don't feel bad about it. Gaga has made enough money off of all of us; this won't ruin her. And yes, it would've been nice if it was Nr 1 for Tony and I'm sure she's not in it for the money on this at all - she did it because she loves to sing Jazz and it shows & also for Tony, but this is life. You can't be nr 1 all the time; not everything suceeds and it does not have to be that way. It's life. All that matters is that she & Tony enjoyed it and that the people who love Jazz enjoy it. For me this album came out at the perfect time and I enjoy it soooo much! I really love it, but I didn't buy it yet, because right now I'm not spending money on anything because I have to save it. I think I'm gonna tell my family I'd like it for Christmas. Another reason could be that people all over the world are not really in the mood to spend as much money & as easy as the years before. The economy everywhere is prolly goin' down the drain anyway and it shows. Many are talking about our planet being destroyed and selling less physical products would actually be better for the planet anyway. (And streaming does the rest - these days it's really hard to sell physical copies and if not all of them are signed, people won't bother to buy and stream instead) To sum it up: I wish they had sold more for the sake that it's Tony's last album, but let's wait for the tv interview and the other performances they recorded to come out - and Christmas is still ahead and I think it really fits with xmas season. But the álbum might keep selling theres an audience, a mainstream audience for these type of music, lets wait for it them to be aware. The álbum is really really good but just cole Porter isnt that appealling. The selling point is Tony, not even Gaga. its like the whole thing is for New York nostalgia. Theather geeks, old Tony fans, Italo-americans..? the songs are done in a very tradicional fashion, its neither contemporany jazz nor chill poppy jazz. but over 45/50 like very much the more romantic style.
