I dk how many of you have seen Tony's arrangement, but I did. And Gaga's original "Frankensteined" version was kinda anti-climactic to me because it felt like she cut off the emotional tension by having the uptempo arrangement come in. When she did Tony's version, not only did it sound even more incredible because her vocals were OVER THE ROOF, it felt like such a powerful statement. I started to have tears in my eyes because it felt like she was infusing Tony's jazz spirit into herself, it felt like her carrying Tony's torch. In fact the entire show to me was an act of artistic independence. She had always relied on Tony's team to produce the albums (C2C and LFS) but now, everything has to be from herself and her team, and she'd need to make decisions without Tony. It felt incredibly moving (to me at least) to see Gaga perform jazz with such confidence and finesse which we didn't really get to witness in her 2014 Cheek to Cheek performances, and Tony was responsible for that. I'm sure her improved understanding of music would even influence the composition of her dance music in the future. Please tell me it's not just me, but didn't she sound even better than in her Jazz & Piano performances? I just feel like she grew so much after 2 years of not performing, I am so overwhelmed. White flowers have been used as a symbol of hope for Alzheimer's. I find myself wondering if Tony's Alzheimer's is worse than we're aware.
