I know you were joking but i was supposed to get immigration visa this year. The usual wait time after completion of application and final fees and documents submission is 3-9 months and its been almost a year now. First because of corona travel ban. Now it was in news that the US would allow travels from november for fully vaccinated. But now this thing the treasure secretary said. Im worried i really want to get out of here

I wish I had more info to share but if it happens it’ll be different than the usual government shutdown but honestly I think it’s Fox News trying to fearmonger like usual

The US will default on its $29T of debt causing an economic collapse. In the US it would probably mean millions of people would become unemployed (kinda like beginning of covid but with NO government assistance at all), skyrocketing inflation and interest rates, etc. It would severely hurt the value of the USD and it’s status being the main currency used in the world. And it would probably cause a huge worldwide recession (forcountries like Japan we are in debt to them equal to about 25% of their GDP)  even fears of a default can cause a significant drop in economic/GPD growth.

I’ll ask u too. Would it affect NVC processing immigration visas? The normal wait time after everything is 3-9 months before your interview with the embassy is scheduled. I was supposed to get it this year but there were travel bans n now this is happening? Can the govt cancel visas?

Honestly, I dont know enough about the process. If a collapse happens (which is still unlikely), it would probably cause a delay due to lack of funding but other than that I really couldn't say.
